Position Overview

As a Personnel Security Specialist VI, you will play a critical role in supporting national security by reviewing and analyzing investigative documentation, processing e-QIP packets, managing background investigations, and ensuring accurate documentation and case tracking. This role requires advanced expertise in personnel security processes, investigative review, and federal security standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the security of program data and sensitive materials
  • Review investigation request documentation for accuracy and completeness
  • Process e-QIP packets for federal and contractor employees
  • Initiate and manage background investigation requirements
  • Conduct thorough checks and analysis in accordance with federal security guidelines
  • Perform critical analysis of incoming materials related to sensitive security assessments
  • Develop manuals and operational forms for security program execution
  • Prepare detailed case summaries and coordinate investigative efforts with applicable divisions
  • Provide guidance and training to junior specialists
  • Maintain accurate data entry and case tracking within appropriate systems
  • Support special projects and additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required (advanced degree preferred)
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in Federal Law Enforcement Personnel Security Investigative roles
  • Technical training or certification as an investigator and/or adjudicator required
  • Strong analytical skills and experience conducting database checks
  • Working knowledge of criminal and civil law concepts and investigative procedures
  • Must be capable of obtaining a Top Secret clearance and SCI access, including passing a security polygraph exam

Additional Required Experience

  • The most recent five (5) years of experience must be directly related to analyzing investigations, record checks, and supporting information to produce written documentation regarding investigation completeness and accuracy
  • Experience conducting record checks utilizing IC and third-party information sources
  • Must have served as a senior investigator responsible for planning and directing investigations of national or international scope
  • Experience providing administrative and technical supervision over investigative staff
  • Experience conducting, directing, or evaluating TS/Secret investigations, with preferred experience in counterintelligence/espionage, counterterrorism, criminal matters, and personnel security investigations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of criminal and civil law procedures and enforcement operations, supported through documented experience and on-the-job training
