Job Overview

The Accounts Receivable (AR) Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the accounts receivable department to ensure accurate and timely billing, collection, and application of payments. This role is responsible for managing AR staff, maintaining effective internal controls, monitoring customer accounts, and improving collection processes to optimize cash flow and minimize risk.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate activities of the accounts receivable team.
  • Ensure accurate and timely invoicing, payment application, and reconciliations.
  • Monitor aging reports and follow up on overdue accounts to reduce DSO (Days Sales Outstanding).
  • Analyze credit risk and approve or recommend credit limits for new and existing customers.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve efficiency in AR operations.
  • Work with customers and internal teams to resolve billing discrepancies or disputes.
  • Prepare monthly AR reports, cash forecasts, and collection metrics for management.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate performance of AR staff.
  • Collaborate with other departments (Sales, Operations, Finance) to ensure smooth AR processes.

Qualifications/Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).


Experience: 5+ years of experience in accounts receivable, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.


Skills:



  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and AR best practices
  • Proficiency in ERP/accounting software (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
  • Advanced Excel and reporting skills
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities

Additional Information

Work Environment


Primarily office-based, with standard working hours. Occasional extended hours may be required during month-end closing or audits.
