Responsibilities: Participates in all steps related to the origination of mortgage loans, including but not limited to, reviewing new loan applications, conducting interviews and processing preliminary documentation on loan requests. * Discusses loan alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates and loan documentation in a positive, professional manner. * Prepares and issues conditional loan approvals for Borrowers. Performs follow up work as necessary, and notifies members of loan approval or denial. Explains loan denials precisely and clearly to members. * Counsels members regarding money management and financial matters, especially those that were denied, offering alternatives, if applicable. * Resolves loan application problems. Assists applicants with addressing credit report problems, low appraisals, low salary levels and high debt ratios. * Reviews information for completeness and accuracy. Clarifies missing or questionable information. * Resolves or refers requests and problems promptly and courteously, maintaining the Credit Union's professional reputation. * Stays informed of lending standards, related legal requirements and trends in local real estate and competitive market. * Assists and support Mortgage Loan Processors as needed to effectively process loans for closing. * Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems. * Promotes other potential opportunities to serve members within Georgia United's retail and consumer lending product suite. * Promotes and establishes strong, positive and productive working relationship within the organization through commitment to the company's purpose, mission and core values. 2 years: *Mortgage loan origination and processing experience. (required)
*Knowledge of mortgage loan processing functions. (required) * Knowledge of mortgage related requirements, procedures and underwriting criteria. (required) * Solid math and calculation skills. (required) * Knowledge of regulatory requirements - RESPA, HMDA, ECOA, FCRA, Flood Determination, Reg Z, Ability to Repay, Interagency Appraisal and Evaluation Guidelines. (required) * Must meet the qualifications necessary to maintain a NMLS license and meet the requirements of the SAFE Act. (required) * Computer proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Internet, and Email. (required) * Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing. (required) * Ability to work with confidential and time sensitive information in a fast-paced team oriented environment with appropriate attention to details, accuracy and production.
