The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Director of Imaging Services

Essential Functions:

Improvement/Strategy

  • Responsible for measuring operational efficiencies, recommending solutions and designing new or improved processes for improvement in all aspects of imaging services
  • Responsible for new business development and facility satisfaction at existing locations.
  • Proposes strategic expansion of service offerings where opportunities present themselves to senior leadership
  • Participates in various committees as required by the needs of RWJBarnabas Health, including but not limited to: IT security needs, EPIC transformation, safety committees, etc.
  • Coordinates installations and other projects with vendors and other RJWBH Service departments.
  • Manages radiology service operations at all RWJBH and affiliate locations.
  • Supervises preventive and corrective maintenance to comply with regulatory and accreditation requirements. Assures that maintenance is recorded via work order and information is submitted on a timely basis to data entry.
  • Reviews all work performed daily for accuracy and effectiveness. Follows Clinical Engineering policies and procedures to assure effective operations, safety, quality control, preventive maintenance, and repairs.
  • Assures that all test equipment is calibrated annually and certificates are available for inspection for employee use.

Staff Management

  • Assigns and schedules staff assignments on an ongoing basis, discusses and posts schedules for staff in a timely manner. Reviews all requests for time off in relation to the staffing requirements. Ensures staffing schedules meet service needs.
  • Holds monthly staff meetings to communicate information, discuss problems and to get staff input.
  • Hires and provides departmental orientation for new employees and assures ongoing training to keep staff current. Documents orientation and training on appropriate forms.
  • Maintains a professional and business-like relationship with the facilities and vendors

Technical Responsibilities

  • Must have experience with imaging equipment with multi-modal and multivendor equipment such as GE, Phillips, Siemens, Hologic and other manufacturers.
  • Documents procedures and maintains records as required by regulatory agencies. Assist staff and serves as a consultant for training on equipment and problems.
  • Works with facilities as needed in preparation for compliance by JCAHO, DOH, AOA, OSHA and other federal, state, or regulatory agencies.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum Degree - Bachelor of Science or 15+ years equivalent experience working in imaging services
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently without supervision.
  • Experience in an administrative position is preferred.
  • 15 or more years of supervisory/management/leadership experience
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, including Outlook, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of accrual accounting principles and the ability to maintain and monitor the budget through GL.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory bodies and standards (Joint Commission, CMS, FDA, DOH and others)
  • Travel may be required based on RWJBH needs.
  • Good oral communication skills; able to work collaboratively with others
  • Well-developed, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand and interpret data
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office applications (primarily Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Visio) is required.
  • Proficiency in PeopleSoft and TMS required
  • Ability to analyze and present data in a meaningful way
  • Strong knowledge of system analysis, workflow planning, gathering business requirements and transforming them into function specifications to ensure integrity of processes and data
  • Provide a high level of customer service to all end users and internal/external customers.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to problems with potential solutions in a highly professional, confidential and sensitive manner.
