Overview

Nakupuna Solutions is looking for a Program Support Officer to support the Office of the U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator and Health Diplomacy (S/GAC) in Washington, D.C. The Office of the U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator and Health Diplomacy (S/GAC) is responsible for implementing the America First Global Heath Strategy launched in 2025 to improve the lives of those suffering from HIV/AIDS around the world.



Responsibilities

The Program Support Officer (PSO) will serve in the Program Quality unit of the Office of the U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator (S/GAC). The Program Quality (PQ) team provides technical expertise for the implementation of programs to provide diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of HIV in PEPFAR programs throughout the world. Activities include development of technical considerations, review and input to country operational plans, participation in technical meetings with normative bodies, and technical assistance both remotely and in the field. To facilitate this work, the Program Quality team engages colleagues across S/GAC's Management and Budget, Country Impact, Country Operations, Multilateral, and other teams and with technical advisors at other PEPFAR agencies.

    Serves as the primary liaison, facilitating seamless communication between sections, offices, and interagency partners, while maintaining crucial connections with international organizations.
  • Coordinates all communication channels, including email correspondence, telephone calls, meeting notes, and action memos, acting as a vital link between the Director, Deputy Director, and subordinate managers.
  • Offers accurate and timely guidance on procedures, reports, and requirements, ensuring effective implementation of the Director and Deputy Director's policies, directives, and instructions.
  • Keeps the directorate informed on current issues and programs, scheduling briefings by staff members as needed for the Director and/or Deputy Director.
  • Assists in monitoring and managing teamwork flow, communication, and morale, promoting a positive and productive work environment.
  • Engages in programmatic components and substantive issues covered by the directorate, contributing valuable insights and support.
  • Provides administrative support for the coordination and collaboration of agencies in program implementation, ensuring seamless cooperation.
  • Manages incoming calls and visitors, directing them to the appropriate staff members and handling routine inquiries efficiently.
  • Responds promptly to requests for information, including reports status, duty assignments, and compliance deadlines, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Supports the preparation of annual Country Operational Plans and quarterly POART reviews, ensuring administrative efficiency and adherence to timelines.
  • Maintains the calendar and schedule appointments based on an understanding of office leadership interests and commitments, optimizing time management.
  • Handles all aspects of travel arrangements, from scheduling visits and making transportation and hotel reservations to coordinating with officials and submitting necessary documentation and reports promptly.


Qualifications

Skills/Qualifications: Must be self-motivated, have strong attention to detail, good oral and written communication skills. Must be in good physical condition and can occasionally travel.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Sciences, allied sciences, or related field appropriate to the work position.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience.

Clearance: Must be a U.S. Citizen. MODERATE RISK PUBLIC TRUST clearance required.

Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.
