Level 2 Cable Technician - IES Communications Location: Microsoft Stream Data Center - Goodyear, AZ Employment Type: ContracttoHire Schedule: Monday-Saturday, 10hour shifts (Start time: 5:00 AM) Position Overview IES Communications is seeking experienced Level 2 Cable Technicians to support low-voltage and data center infrastructure work at a major Microsoft data center in Goodyear, Arizona. This role requires strong technical skills, leadership ability, and the capability to perform installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems. Technicians will also assist in guiding small teams and ensuring all work meets IES quality and safety standards. Key Responsibilities Cabling & Infrastructure Installation * Pull, terminate, and test Cat5e/Cat6 and fiber optic cabling. * Install workarea outlets, modular furniture outlets, and wall-mounted boxes. * Terminate CAT3/CAT5 jacks, faceplates, 110/66 blocks, and patch panels. * Install Jhooks, cable trays, ladder racks, and grounding systems. Closet & Rack Buildouts * Build and install telecom closets, including backboards, crossconnects, racks, patch panels, and fiber hardware. * Perform full rack assembly, rack & stack, and labeling per IES standards. Testing & Troubleshooting * Perform continuity and signal testing for horizontal and riser cabling. * Use voltohmmeters, toners, and troubleshooting tools to identify opens, shorts, and crossed pairs. * Identify active data and voice circuits. Team & Project Support * Lead small groups of installers and ensure workloads are completed on time. * Provide onsite training and maintain adherence to safety regulations. * Complete all required IES documentation (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, etc.). Required Tools Technicians must provide and be proficient with: * Screwdrivers (flat & Phillips), drywall saw, level, tape measure * Snips, pliers (needlenose & channel locks), hammer, cable stripper * Flashlight, gloves, punchdown tools (110/66), tone set * 6/8position crimp tool, and common lowvoltage hand tools Required Skills & Experience * Experience with: * Cable pulling, terminations, and testing (Cat5e, Cat6, Fiber) * Rack install/assembly and ladder rack installation * Jhook installation and proper cable support * Understanding of color codes, cable management, and lowvoltage standards * Ability to interpret construction drawings, cable schedules, and floor plans * OSP (Outside Plant) experience is a plus * BICSI certification is a plus * Reliable transportation and ability to pass required screenings * Ability to lift 50 lbs., work at heights, and perform physical labor in indoor/outdoor environments Work Environment * Microsoft data center newbuild environment * Indoor and outdoor work, including areas without AC * Heavy walking, material handling, and ladder/lift work * Additional project sites may be located throughout the Phoenix metro area Interview Process (3 Steps) * Initial Interview - Meeting with the Account Manager * Technical Interview - Conducted by an Internal IES Recruiter * Final Interview - Onsite or virtual interview with the IES Project Manager for the job site Compensation * Pay Range: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour (based on experience) * Employment Type: 640 Hour, Contracttohire with longterm project opportunities * Overtime: Potential for 50-60 hour weeks DRUG TEST & BG CHECK - REQUIRED Call me: (480) 426-6338 Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Goodyear, AZ.
