Description

Macmillan is seeking a Senior Planning Manager to join the team. This role will drive sales and inventory strategies across multiple channels, ensuring the right product is in the right place at the right time. The Senior Planning Manager will own inventory management, replenishment, and in-season allocation, using data-driven insights to optimize performance.

This position requires a highly analytical and proactive professional who can balance strategic planning with operational execution in a fast-paced environment. Strong collaboration with Editorial, Sales, and Supply Chain teams is essential to maximize profitability and improve overall productivity.

What you'll do:



  • Support the Vice President of Inventory Planning in maintaining optimal inventory levels while minimizing product costs and stockouts.
  • Forecast demand for new titles by analyzing historical sales data, market trends, and release schedules to optimize inventory investment.
  • Lead weekly cross-functional meetings with publishers and Sales teams to review backlist performance and upcoming new releases, identifying reprint needs and risks.
  • Actively participate in weekly publishing meetings by analyzing results, reporting performance, and highlighting issues and opportunities.
  • Monitor sales and inventory performance against forecasts, providing regular updates to key stakeholders and adjusting strategies as needed to consistently meet or exceed business goals.
  • Drive inventory optimization through strategic stock reallocations, warehouse consolidations, and end-of-life inventory management.
  • Prepare and present clear, data-driven reports that highlight performance, risks, opportunities, and actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Serve as a proactive and agile partner in a dynamic environment, responding to ad hoc requests and driving alignment across teams to achieve shared business objectives.


What you'll bring:



  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in inventory planning, allocation, or related roles, with demonstrated success at the Manager level.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong forecasting, financial modeling, and inventory optimization capabilities; advanced Excel proficiency required. Power BI experience strongly preferred
  • Collaboration: Excellent cross-functional communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance data-driven decisions and brand priorities.


Salary range for this position is between $80,000-$130,000 depending on experience.
