Job Summary
This position supports the operations of the Eugene McDermott Library during third shift hours and is one of two full-time staff members on duty during that time. The role is responsible for assisting with closing procedures, maintaining the security and smooth functioning of the building, and providing high-quality customer service and support across multiple library service areas.
Minimum Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a library setting; or any comparable combination of education and practical experience may be considered.

  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with email, internet browsers, and standard office software and equipment.
  • Familiarity with library databases and information technology.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to resolve complex patron needs.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in managing resources and resolving issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Building Security & Access:

  • Monitor and maintain building security systems, including CCure access control; coordinate event access; review security footage; maintain access logs and lost-and-found; liaise with UTD Police as needed.


Public Services:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact at multiple service points, including Circulation, Multimedia, Study Rooms, Copy Center, Campus Delivery, and the Information Desk. Assist patrons with accounts, locating materials, and using the catalog and website. Provide support to users via email, phone, and chat.
Technology Support:
  • Handle complex transactions using library systems, troubleshoot Smart Room and equipment issues, and escalate to Library IT when necessary.
Student Supervision & Mentorship:
  • Mentor, supervise, and support student workers; assist with maintaining and updating training documentation.
Resource & Equipment Management:
  • Order and manage supplies, coordinate with vendors, perform daily equipment checks, and arrange for repairs as needed.
Policy & Procedure Compliance:
  • Apply library policies and procedures effectively; resolve patron concerns with professionalism and accuracy.
Departmental Specialization:
  • Develop expertise in one or more focus areas such as security, patron accounts, mentorship, technology support, or outreach materials.
