Job description
Role: Sr Service Desk/Mac Engineer THIS IS A HYBRID ROLE IN NYC Endpoint Management & Administration
- Architect and maintain enterprise macOS deployment and software management systems across large-scale global environments
- Administer and optimize Jamf Pro infrastructure, including policy management, configuration profiles, and endpoint security
- Configure and enforce security policies including firewall rules, application restrictions, and network access controls
- Implement granular application installation controls to ensure only approved software can be deployed
- Manage complete macOS lifecycle including provisioning, deployment, patch management, and decommissioning
- Design and implement backup and disaster recovery solutions for macOS infrastructure
- Lead large-scale migrations and platform transitions with minimal business disruption
Automation & Engineering
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash, Zsh, Python, AppleScript, and Perl to eliminate manual processes
- Create automated vulnerability monitoring systems integrating with National Vulnerability Database (NVD) and other security sources
- Build executive dashboards and reporting tools to provide real-time visibility into deployment status, patch compliance, and support metrics
- Design self-service tools and workflows to empower end users and reduce support ticket volume
- Integrate macOS systems with enterprise platforms including ServiceNow, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365
Security & Compliance
- Monitor and respond to macOS security vulnerabilities and threats
- Implement and maintain endpoint security controls and compliance policies
- Configure and manage macOS firewall rules and network security policies to protect endpoints from unauthorized access
- Design and enforce application installation blocking policies and allowlisting/blocklisting frameworks
- Implement application control mechanisms to prevent unauthorized software installation and execution
- Manage Gatekeeper, XProtect, and other native macOS security features
- Configure and maintain endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions for macOS
- Conduct risk assessments and provide remediation recommendations
- Maintain documentation of security configurations, firewall rules, and compliance standards
- Partner with Information Security team on endpoint protection initiatives and security incident response
Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentor and train Windows-centric support teams on macOS platform support
- Provide white-glove support to executive-level users and high-priority business groups
- Serve as primary macOS subject matter expert for the organization
- Create comprehensive technical documentation, knowledge base articles, and training materials
Support & Service Delivery
- Provide advanced Tier 3 macOS support for complex issues beyond standard desktop support capabilities
- Lead pilot deployments for new macOS features and hardware rollouts
- Evaluate accessibility features and ensure platform capabilities meet diverse user needs
- Drive continuous improvement in support processes and operational efficiency
- Support both business users and developer populations with specialized needs
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience
- 10+ years of experience in macOS enterprise support and administration
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Jamf Pro administration in large-scale environments (3,000+ endpoints)
- Proven track record of building automation solutions that significantly reduce manual effort
- Experience supporting executive-level users and managing high-visibility projects
- Demonstrated success in mentoring and enabling support teams
Technical Skills
- Expert-level proficiency in macOS platform administration and troubleshooting
- Advanced scripting skills in Bash, Zsh, Python, and AppleScript
- Deep knowledge of Jamf Pro architecture, policies, configuration profiles, and extension attributes
- Strong understanding of macOS security protocols including firewall configuration, application control, and access restrictions
- Experience implementing and managing application blocking policies, allowlisting/blocklisting, and software restriction policies
- Proficiency with macOS native security features (Gatekeeper, XProtect, System Integrity Protection)
- Knowledge of endpoint security tools and EDR solutions for macOS
- Strong understanding of vulnerability management and security best practices
- Experience with databases (SQLite, MySQL) and data processing
- Proficiency with web technologies and data formats (HTML, XML, JSON, PHP)
- Knowledge of cross-platform integration (macOS/Windows environments)
- Familiarity with enterprise applications: Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office 365, Workday, ServiceNow

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Apple Certified Macintosh Technician certification
- Jamf Certified Professional or Jamf Certified Associate credentials
- Experience with large-scale enterprise migrations (on-premises to cloud)
- Background in financial services or highly regulated industries
- Experience with additional scripting languages (Perl, Ruby, etc.)
- Knowledge of macOS Server and related services
- Familiarity with FileMaker or other database platforms
- Experience with Jira or similar project tracking tools
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
