Function: This role serves as the bridge between Finance and the Commercial Banking Line of Business (LOB). The leader will combine financial acumen with data-driven decision making to proactively provide strategic financial analysis, performance analytics, and actionable insights to support commercial banking growth, profitability, and operational efficiency. They will ensure alignment between financial planning, data analytics capabilities, and business objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Serves as the primary partner between Finance and Commercial Banking (including Commercial Banking, Treasury Management, and Credit). Coordinates cross-functional reviews to ensure reporting and analytics support the Commercial Banking strategy.

2. Leverages analytics and financial insights to generate innovative ideas and actionable strategies that improve Commercial Banking's financial performance and/or enhance customer experience.

3. Designs executive-level reporting and scorecards for Commercial Banking. Analyzes reporting and translates complex financial information into clear, actionable insights to non-finance stakeholders, influencing strategic decisions. Monitors key metrics (e.g., pipelines, credit, household acquisition, product profitability) and proactively recommends actions. Identifies trends and proactively brings awareness. Develops early warning indicators to identify emerging trends (e.g. delinquency, declining transaction activity, fraud exposures).

4. Supports budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning for Commercial Banking. Provides variance analysis, profitability assessments, and scenario modeling to support decision-making (e.g. fee changes, incentive plans). Understands financial opportunities and risk. Identifies efficiencies and cost savings.

5. Reimagines and continuously evolves Commercial Banking reporting that balances insights with usability. Champions the report stakeholder experience by understanding the use case for each report, ensuring design decisions maximize business impact. Leads the rollout and adoption of new reporting to empower Commercial Banking stakeholders to effectively leverage data for informed decision-making.

6. Collaborates with the Data team to design dashboards and KPIs to measure and monitor commercial banking performance. Translates business objectives and operational needs into structured data requests. Ensures reporting adheres to internal governance, data quality standards, and regulatory expectations.

7. Assesses resource allocation and ensures focus on analytical initiatives that deliver the greatest potential impact for Commercial Banking growth, profitability, and operational efficiency.

8. Leads a cohesive, high performing team. Continually coaches team members to develop their technical, analytical, and consultative skills in support of their ongoing career development. Attracts and retains talent.

9. Maintains a good working relationship with Bank employees. Demonstrates a strong ability to work independently, as well as motivated to work as a team player to contribute to the success of the department and in turn, the organization.

10. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree is required (Business, Finance, etc.)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is required

  • Ten plus years of commercial banking experience preferred

  • Two plus years of financial planning and/or reporting/analytics experience preferred

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights
