This role ensures adherence to FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and company standards, and leads initiatives that promote a safe, compliant, and efficient operation. The ideal candidate brings strong industry knowledge, leadership skills, and a passion for building a proactive safety culture. Key Responsibilities Regulatory Compliance Maintain full compliance with FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and all applicable federal and state regulations. Oversee driver qualification files, MVR reviews, drug & alcohol testing programs, and annual compliance audits. Manage Hours-of-Service (HOS) monitoring and ELD system oversight. Prepare for and lead regulatory inspections, audits, and internal compliance reviews. Safety Program Management Lead development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety policies and procedures. Conduct regular driver safety meetings, ongoing training programs, and corrective action coaching. Manage incident response, accident investigations, root-cause analyses, and corrective action plans. Track safety performance metrics and present reports to leadership. Fleet & Operations Support Collaborate closely with Dispatch, Fleet Maintenance, and Operations to ensure safe practices across the entire transportation workflow. Assist in equipment specification, inspection programs, and maintenance compliance coordination. Support onboarding of new drivers through orientation, road evaluations, and training. Risk & Claims Management Maintain documentation for insurance, accident files, workers' compensation claims, and related reporting. Partner with HR, Legal, and Risk teams on claims handling and preventative measures. Qualifications 3-5+ years of transportation safety or compliance management experience (private fleet experience preferred). Strong working knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, and OSHA regulations. Experience managing ELD systems (e.g., Omnitracs, Samsara, KeepTruckin, etc.). Excellent communication, training, and coaching skills. Ability to lead safety culture initiatives and engage drivers effectively. Strong analytical, documentation, and organizational skills. CDL Class A license is preferred but not required. Preferred Skills Experience in furniture, manufacturing, or private fleet transportation environments. Accident investigation or safety certification (e.g., NATMI CSS/DSC, OSHA 30, Smith System, etc.). Knowledge of fleet maintenance processes.
