Job Overview

The Payroll Processing Lead II assists the Payroll Manager and directs the processing, auditing, and reconciliation of on-cycle payrolls for multiple companies and frequencies. They compute wage and overtime payments, calculate and record payroll taxes and deductions, and process requests for off-cycle and final payments. The role provides daily leadership and guidance to direct reports, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in payroll operations.

What You Will Do



  • Manage end-to-end weekly payroll processing for multiple companies, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.
  • Oversee and validate all payroll adjustments, including earnings, deductions, retroactive changes, and corrections, before confirming payroll.
  • Monitor, balance, and troubleshoot inbound and outbound payroll file feeds, including any interface files, to maintain seamless data flow.
  • Supervise daily off-cycle and final payment processing, ensuring adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Interpret federal, state, and local guidelines for tax withholdings, garnishments, FLSA calculations, relocation payments, stock transactions, and other imputed income items.
  • Assist the Payroll Manager with auditing, balancing, and reconciling quarterly and annual payroll reports to support compliance and accurate tax filings.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and support to payroll team members.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to business partners, offering guidance on payroll policies, procedures, and complex issue resolution.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.


Skills You Will Need

Payroll Operations: Expertise in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of payroll processes, tax reviews, and other assigned projects as needed.

Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations preferred but not required. Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as reports, procedure manuals and tax laws.

Audit & Reconciliation: Ability to audit, reconcile, and balance payroll reports to support accurate tax filings and compliance requirements.

System & Data Management: Experience with payroll operations such as Oracle HCM is preferred but not required, with strong Excel and Word proficiency.

Leadership & Team Development: Provides daily guidance, coaching, and support to payroll team members, fostering accountability, accuracy, and efficiency.

Stakeholder Communication: Serves as a subject matter expert to business partners, explaining payroll policies, procedures, and complex issues in a clear and actionable way.

Analytical & Problem Solving: Strong mathematical aptitude and analytical skills, with the ability to manage confidential information with discretion.

Organizational Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, ability to prioritize multiple tasks independently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
