Compensation: We offer our employees a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our organizational culture, mission, and core values. The salary range for this position is $86,507.00 to $91,484.10 and may be commensurate with experience.

Position Description:

The Content & Social Media Manager is responsible for leading the development, organization, and execution of SOME's social media and internal communications with a strong focus on creativity, consistency, and long-term planning. This role combines strategic storytelling with strong project management to build and sustain a cohesive communications framework that supports both internal alignment and external engagement.

The Content & Social Media Manager oversees year-round content planning, manages social media platforms, and coordinates internal communications by aligning messaging, timelines, and workflows across departments. This position plays a critical role in strengthening SOME's communications infrastructure, ensuring content is thoughtful, well-organized, and aligned with organizational priorities. Working closely with the Marketing & Communications team, Development, Programs, Human Resources, and Executive Leadership, this role helps move the organization from reactive messaging to a more proactive, intentional, and strategic communications approach that reflects SOME's mission and values. This role is a mid-level manager.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (40 hours per week); some evenings and weekends, holidays. Hybrid schedule (i.e., will require 2-3 in-office days)

Required: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field; 3-5 years of experience in social media, content strategy, or communications.

Preferred: Experience working in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization. Experience building or managing content systems or calendars across an organization.

Required License/Certification: A valid driver's license is required.

Expected Contributions: Content Planning & Strategy



  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive annual content calendar that supports fundraising campaigns, program milestones, events, advocacy efforts, and internal initiatives.
  • Translate organizational priorities into clear, organized content plans across social media and internal communication channels.
  • Ensure content planning is proactive, balanced, and sustainable throughout the year.


Social Media Management & Creative Execution



  • Lead the creation, scheduling, and publishing of engaging social media content across platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), and others as appropriate.
  • Identify creative storytelling opportunities, new content formats, and emerging trends to keep SOME's social presence fresh and engaging.
  • Maintain consistency in voice, tone, and visual identity across platforms.


Internal Communications Support



  • Support internal communications by helping plan and distribute organizational updates, staff announcements, and key internal messages.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure messaging is clear, timely, and aligned across departments.
  • Help strengthen internal communication rhythms and practices that keep staff informed and connected.


Workflow, Organization, & Process



  • Create and manage clear workflows for content requests, approvals, and publishing.
  • Maintain organized systems for content assets, including photos, videos, templates, and shared resources.
  • Ensure deadlines are met, and communications are executed smoothly across multiple channels.


Collaboration & Coordination



  • Work collaboratively with staff, leadership, and volunteers to source authentic stories and content ideas.
  • Coordinate with external vendors such as designers, photographers, and videographers to support content needs.
  • Serve as a communications connector across teams, helping align internal priorities with external messaging.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:



  • Strong creative writing and storytelling skills.
  • Excellent organizational and planning abilities, with experience managing long-term content calendars
  • Ability to balance creativity with structure and consistency.
  • Comfortable collaborating across departments and managing multiple projects at once.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Understanding of nonprofit communications and mission-driven storytelling.
  • Flexible, proactive, and solutions-oriented approach to work.
  • Proven ability to understand and collaborate with business functions such as program leadership, finance, human resources, information technology, Board, etc.


Reports To: Director, Marketing & Communications

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. Requires looking at a computer screen for several hours a day. May be required to sit for long periods. Must be able to travel to events and meetings off-site
