Summary:
The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider. The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions: Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting. -Performs complete histories and physical examinations. -Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests. -Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings. -Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures. -Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries. -Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population. Education The Nephrology Physician APP will be a core member of the BWH Department of Medicine and key constituent of the Nephrology Division. The nature and scope of practice of the APP for Nephrology is to assess, diagnose and treat health problems of patients across the continuum of care, in collaboration with the Nephrology attendings. The practice will encompass outpatient care for patients with CKD and ESRD. Candidates for the position should have a strong interest in acute care nephrology and, ideally, experience and training in clinical nephrology. The nephrology APP will report to the BWH Clinic Director. The nephrology APP will work very closely with all BWH nephrology attending physicians to develop the necessary clinical skills in a highly collaborative and supportive environment. As a member of the BWH Nephrology Division, the PA shall be responsible for the following duties: * 3 full days of outpatient clinic: see patients in outpatient clinic setting * 1.5 days dedicated to administrative responsibilities, care coordination, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
