Overview

SUMMARY:

We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Technician III to support a Navy calibration and metrology operations contract at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD). This role is ideal for a technician with handson calibration experience, strong analytical skills, and a deep understanding of laboratory quality standards. You will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and traceability of critical test and measurement equipment used across Navy programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Conduct a wide range of calibration tests using automatic calibration systems, including making minor procedural adjustments and applying technical judgment in equipment setup, measurement, and data collection.
  • Operate, configure, and maintain calibration and test equipment in accordance with technical requirements and safety standards.
  • Extract, compile, and process engineering data from calibration activities.
  • Prepare Calibration Process Reports (CPRs), calibration certificates, and other technical documentation.
  • Select appropriate methods for presenting technical data to support engineering and quality assurance needs.
  • Develop and document test and calibration uncertainties in accordance with laboratory standards.
  • Write calibration procedures based on manufacturer specifications, engineering requirements, and Navy standards.
  • Apply knowledge of calibration and metrology laboratory processes to ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2005, NAVSEA 044734, and related quality system requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits by maintaining accurate records and ensuring adherence to established quality practices.
  • Maintain awareness of calibration inventory, recall schedules, and equipment lifecycle requirements.
  • Apply knowledge of electronic, physical, and dimensional calibration principles to ensure proper traceability and documentation of all calibrated assets.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum five (5) years of handson technical experience in calibration, metrology, or related engineering support roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform calibration tasks requiring technical judgment, procedural interpretation, and precise measurement.
  • Experience preparing calibration reports, certificates, and engineering data summaries.
  • Working knowledge of calibration traceability, uncertainty analysis, and laboratory quality systems.
  • Ability to write or revise calibration procedures based on technical specifications.
  • CPR certification (or ability to obtain within one year of hire).
  • Familiarity with Navy or DoD calibration environments is a plus.
  • Must have at least a Interim Secret
  • No degree required

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS:

A satisfactory background screening, negative drug test, positive references and proof of identity and legal authorization to work in the United States and for TTC are required.
