Overview

SUMMARY:

We are seeking a dependable and detailoriented Engineering Technician II to support calibration and metrology operations for Navy programs at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD). This role is ideal for a technician with handson calibration experience who can follow established procedures, operate test equipment, and ensure the accuracy and reliability of Test, Measurement & Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) used across missioncritical systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Perform simple and standard calibrations by following established instructions and technical procedures.
  • Conduct a variety of calibration tests using approved methods, including adjusting and operating equipment, recording test data, and identifying deviations caused by equipment malfunction or observational errors.
  • Utilize automatic calibration systems in accordance with laboratory processes and Navy requirements.
  • Extract engineering data from prescribed but nonstandardized sources and process it using welldefined methods.
  • Prepare Calibration Procedure Requests (CPRs), calibration reports, and calibration certificates with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Maintain clear, organized, and traceable documentation to support quality assurance and audit readiness.
  • Support the calibration and alignment of Test Measurement & Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE).
  • Apply knowledge of electronic, physical, and dimensional calibration principles to ensure proper traceability and compliance with Navy standards.
  • Assist senior technicians and engineers as needed to support laboratory operations and workflow.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of the calibration process, requirements, and traceability standards.
  • Follow established safety procedures and maintain CPR certification within one year of hire.
  • Support adherence to Navy and laboratory quality systems, contributing to a reliable and compliant calibration environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum three (3) years of relevant technical experience in calibration, metrology, or related engineering support.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and perform standard calibration tasks with accuracy.
  • Experience using automatic calibration systems and working with TMDE.
  • Knowledge of calibration principles, traceability requirements, and data documentation practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify equipment deviations or errors.
  • CPR certification (or ability to obtain within one year of hire).
  • Familiarity with Navy or DoD calibration environments is a plus.
  • Must have at least an Interim Secret
  • No degree required

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS:

A satisfactory background screening, negative drug test, positive references and proof of identity and legal authorization to work in the United States and for TTC are required.
