Scope of Position:

The Gym Weekend Supervisor (On-Call) is responsible for overseeing Saturday gym operations during rental and visitor group use. This position ensures a safe, secure, and welcoming environment by monitoring activities, enforcing Protective Measures (PTM) standards, maintaining facility security, and completing opening and closing procedures. The role requires strong observation skills, reliability, and the ability to respond appropriately to safety or facility concerns.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:



  • Knowledge of The Salvation Army mission and programs, or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and PTM regulations.
  • Strong observation and attention to detail.
  • Basic computer and clerical skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Dependable, punctual, and trustworthy.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Facility Supervision and Safety



  • Remain stationed in the gym office during rental periods to observe activities and monitor facility use.
  • Ensure the safety and security of all participants, visitors, and property.
  • Enforce Protective Measures (PTM) guidelines and report any concerns or incidents promptly.
  • Conduct hourly perimeter and facility checks, including gym floor, locker rooms, bathrooms, and surrounding areas.


Opening and Closing Procedures



  • Open the gym and related facilities prior to scheduled use.
  • Secure and lock the gym and all related areas after use, confirming that all individuals have exited the premises.
  • Ensure lights, doors, and equipment are properly shut down and secured.


Facility Care and Cleanliness



  • Clean gym equipment and common areas following use.
  • Report maintenance, safety hazards, or equipment issues to the supervisor.


Professional Conduct and Communication



  • Serve as a visible and approachable representative of The Salvation Army.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with rental groups, staff, and supervisors.
  • Complete required documentation or reports related to incidents, safety concerns, or facility issues.


Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform basic cleaning and inspection tasks.


Working Conditions:



  • Work is performed indoors within the gym and related facilities.
  • Position is primarily weekend-based and on-call, with hours dependent on scheduled gym rentals.

Education and Work Experience:

Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience: Previous experience in facility supervision, security, recreation, or customer service preferred; familiarity with Salvation Army programs is a plus.

License and Certifications:

Must be willing to complete Protective Measures (PTM) training.
