Overview

We are seeking an Outpatient Pre-Procedure/Post-Procedure Registered Nurse in our pre/post unit. The RN plays a crucial role in the pre-procedure and post-procedure care of patients undergoing surgical procedures. They ensure that the patients have a safe and smooth transition from preoperative to post operative care. This is not a procedure position.

Shift's Available: Days Monday - Friday (no call)

Employment Type: Full Time

Hours: 3 12-hour shifts per week 7:00AM - 7:00PM

Location: Riverview Regional Medical Center - Gadsden, AL

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Assist in preparing the patient for the surgery, which may involve verifying the patient's identity and surgical site, helping to position the patient on the operating table, and ensuring that all necessary pre-operative procedures are completed
  • conduct thorough initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of patients' physical, emotional, and mental health
  • monitor vital signs, intake/output, and other clinical indicators to detect changes in patient conditions
  • recognize and act on warning signs of deterioration, such as changes in heart or respiratory rate
  • safely administer prescribed medications (oral, IV, subcutaneous, intramuscular) and monitor for adverse effects or allergic reactions
  • act as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure the patient's needs are met
  • provide patient education on their condition, treatment options, and lifestyle adjustments to support recovery and prevent readmission.
  • communicate effectively with doctors, specialists, physical therapists, and social workers to develop and adjust care plans


Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN); preferred.

Additional Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Active state Registered Nursing (RN) License; required
  • Current BCLS (AHA), ACLS certificate upon hire and maintain current; required.
  • One (1) year clinical experience in a Cardiovascular Lab doing cardiac work or in a Critical Care area; required.
