As part of the Lifelong Learning and Accessibility division within L&E, you will oversee a suite of inclusive public programs and accessibility initiatives that annually reach over 5000 visitors of all ages, cultural background and abilities to the museum and celebrate the role of creativity in wellness and healthy aging.

Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday; may require occasional weekend and evening hours.
Starting Pay Range: $53,000 - $66,200/year, based on experience.

What You'll Do As Manager of Lifelong Learning and Accessibility, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the development and implementation of Art & Wellness programs and spaces that reach and are relevant to Denver metro communities, particularly to active older adults and visitors with disabilities. Current programs include Art and About, Art at Hand boxes, Art at Hand Community Connections, Sensory Garden.
- Maintaining exceptional program quality and effective workflows, monitoring related program budgets and sustainably allocate resources.
- Nurturing and managing community partnerships with community-based organizations working with adults, older adults, and adults with disabilities to expand Art & Wellness programs reach.
- Leading the development of accessibility programs, resources and accommodations for visitors with disabilities that remove barriers to accessing the DAM.
- Designing and managing systems for communicating accessibility information internally and externally and developing systematic Museum procedures for scheduling support services.
- Providing accessibility consultation during the development and installation of special exhibitions and public programs; helping develop Museum-specific guidelines as necessary.
- Managing the schedule of completion and deliverables of awarded grants and special projects. Currently including the 2025-2028 Designing for Accessibility project.
- Recruiting, training and supervising interns, staff and volunteers who support Art & Wellness and Accessibility programs.
- Working with Volunteer Manager to design and manage systems for communication, recruitment, training, and assessment across all programs that utilize volunteers, ensuring exceptional quality and consistency. Current volunteer groups: Art and About, Art at Hand Community Connections, Sensory Garden Guides, Untitled Artist Takeover.
- Managing the activities and deliverables of the Accessibility Advocates cross-departmental working group, including developing annual goals and outcomes, facilitating quarterly meetings, and sharing resources that increase impact across the museum.
- Working with Denver Botanic Gardens staff and Teaching Specialist to develop and implement training programs for Sensory Garden Guides and Art at Hand volunteers.
- With the Associate Director, developing and leading training strategies to increase disability representation across the Museum's collections, programs, and staff.
- Maintaining exceptional program quality and effectiveness and fostering a culture of discovery, creativity, and personal connection to art and culture.
- Promoting equity of opportunity with art & creative experiences by centering diverse and historically under-represented voices.
- Preparing and managing budgets and draft proposals, and reports for funders and stakeholders as needed.
- Working collaboratively across the Learning and Engagement department to deliver superior visitor experiences.
- Supporting on-going understanding of museum education and accessibility best practices among the broader Learning & Engagement staff.
- Managing intern team when needed, including hiring, scheduling, and training.
- Representing Lifelong Learning and Accessibility programs when needed.
- Supporting museum-wide events (like Untitled, Free Days, community celebrations).
- Supporting DAM's Racial Equity Roadmap initiatives through goal setting and applying a racial equity lens in daily work.
What We're Looking For
You might be a great fit if you have:
- A Bachelor of Arts, or comparable degree. Relevant professional experience can be substituted for educational requirements.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience overseeing a complex suite of programs or other comparable projects required.
- Experience supervising staff, interns, and volunteers.
- Established creative practice or teaching experience is encouraged.
- American Sign Language competency is encouraged.
- Proven knowledge and/or experience with accessibility and universal design. Commitment to fostering a welcoming, accessible and inclusive culture.
- Key relationships with a diverse group of Colorado-based disability organizations, teaching artists, creative community or experience building and sustaining a network of partners and community organizations.
- Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills with colleagues and visitors. Experience working with people with disabilities and older adults.
- The ability to work with a variety of people on simultaneous projects; able to recognize problems as they arise and to take initiative.
This role has some physical requirements:
- Prolonged periods of time working at a computer in an open office
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing and operating office equipment
- Some light lifting (less than 50 pounds)
- Occasional local travel to meetings, events, etc.
- Occasional evening and/or weekend work as required, with advanced notice
- Frequent interaction and communication with visitors by email, phone, and in-person
This position is not covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with AFSCME-CWU.
