Position Title: Production Control and Automation CoordinatorCompensation: $16.50 - 17.84Department: VP for Information Technology_EStart Date: 01/19/2026About this opportunity: If you possess excellent customer service and analytical skills with an eye for detail, then you might want to consider applying to become the next Production Control and Automation Coordinator for Ball State Information Technology Services. The successful applicant will play a central role in coordinating the 180 thousand plus jobs that run to keep the universities computer systems up-to-date. Not to mention the creation and building of those custom jobs which will test your analytical skills! You will also assist with monitoring business critical systems and responding to and taking corrective action in response to system alarms and failures. We are looking forward to meeting you! What you'll do and what you'll bring: Position Function: Prepare and review master processing schedules and client requests; develop appropriate job streams across multiple platforms; monitor and control the daily operation of the university's master batch scheduling application and workload automation software; monitor local and cloud-based systems; create, review and place into production, job/program changes assuring operations standards are followed. Duties & Responsibilities: 1. Manage batch processing utilizing the University's master batch scheduling software (UC4). Construct daily forecasts and meet required deadlines for time-critical applications. Create and maintain maintenance windows allowing for system upgrades and patching of systems and applications. Detect, prevent and minimize disruptions to BannerERPproduction processing cycles. 2. Build, review, maintain and update individual jobs, process flows, parameters, conditions, notifications, schedules, and holiday calendars, as well as technical documentation used in the implementation of UC4 automation. Provide quality control in promoting applications from development to production with attention to operational standards. Build, maintain and constantly review the automated alert notifications sent out in the event of job failure and/or success through individually coded custom conditions for each job and process flow step. 3. Perform rerun/restart of jobs within the UC4 production and/or test environments per development and/or end users instructions. Escalate issues and effectively communicate with Database Administrators, System Specialists as well as end user clients; create problem tickets to document any and all failures and subsequent resolutions. 4. Review, configure and test all vendorSFTPsites and associated data files for secure electronic transfers to and from Ball State University'sERPand supporting systems for successful completion. Provide procedure documentation as required.. 5. Utilize the universities' project management solution to gather, organize and collaborate job/process flow requirements, ensuring efficient and timely turnaround of new and modification requests are met within desired deadlines. Keep the project management system up-to-date with adequate details that accurately reflect the current status of all in-process requests. Meet one-on-one to design/improve the UC4 request interface and provide feedback/guidance, when necessary. Advise and assist end user clients in the proper use of the project management UC4 request interface. 6. Provide functional/technical and automation assistance by responding to inquiries regarding errors, problems and concerns involving job scheduling functions, data processing and various systems withinOCC. 7. Meet regularly with members of the Operations Control Center (OCC) data automation team and Information System Services staff to discuss effective and efficient automation techniques, concepts and insights. 8. Utilize basic and intermediate problem determination techniques to monitor, analyze issues and respond to systems and applications across various platforms in accordance with documented problem/escalation procedures and standards and/or security policies. Escalate problems to second and/or third level support to assure timely resolution. 9. Maintain level of technical knowledge consistent with assigned responsibilities; review documentation required forOCCstudent technicians and be knowledgeable of all aspects of theOCC. Serve as essential personnel. 10. Consult with supervisor, as well asOCCteam members, concerning problem areas. Investigate and implement ways to improve systems, processes, and over-all services. Practice awareness and align with departmental and university strategic policies and mission. 11. Support and assist in hardware resolution adhering toOCCpolicies and procedures. Assist with OCCTechnicians,BSUInformation Representative (PBX) coverage andERPchecks as necessary. 12. Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned. 13.
