Position Overview

QinetiQ US is seeking an experienced Senior Flight Director to support the DHS Customs & Border Protection Tethered Aerostat Radar System (TARS) and Tactical Aerostat System (TAS) programs. These programs leverage aerostat systems to provide persistent surveillance and detection capabilities, to the U.S. Government customer across multiple operational sites along the US Southern border in locations including but not limited to: Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico.

The successful candidate will have significant operational experience managing aerostat flight operations on multiple size platforms ranging from tactical to strategic class and will join the program leadership team as the aerostat subject matter expert working alongside the Operations Director. They will report to the TARS/TAS Program Director and Program Management Office. They must be willing to travel to individual sites as needed.



Responsibilities

* Serve as a member of the program leadership team advising on key strategic decisions.

* Collect, maintain, & report program level metrics on a bi-weekly and monthly basis.

* Plan and execute strategic initiatives based on data and trends to maximize flight time and performance against contract KPIs.

* Collaborate with Site Managers and other experienced personnel to evaluate the existing procedures for accuracy, currency, and coverage.

* Ability to identify risks and fact patterns, define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and explain thought processes.

* Provide general expertise and leadership support for site managers and flight directors across the program.

* Oversee investigations and root cause analysis efforts for significant site or program-wide issues as required.

* Propose and lead strategic special projects as required.

* Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.



Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree, or related field required or equivalent experience.

* 10+ years experience in aerostat operations.

* Flight Director certification required.

* Supervisory experience required.

* Valid U.S. Driver's license required.

* Strong written and communication skills.

* Proof of U.S. residency required.

* Existing DHS background investigation or ability to acquire and maintain one.



Preferred Qualifications

* Progressive and increasing responsibility in aerostat operations experience desired.

* Ability to manage confidential information with integrity and discretion.

* Ability to manage multiple workstreams effectively.

* Self-motivated and adaptable, thriving in fast-paced, dynamic, high-growth environments.
