Summary: The Warehouse Manager is accountable for the overall performance of the warehouse, encompassing operations, safety, customer service, office functions, security, and regulatory compliance. This role involves planning, organizing, directing, and controlling all warehouse activities. Key responsibilities include all personnel selection, professional development, and motivation. The Warehouse Manager collaborates with senior management to set performance objectives and contribute to strategic planning, ensuring the achievement of company goals related to customer service, safety, quality assurance, cost control, inventory management, productivity, security, profit, and return on investment.

What You'll Be Doing:

Communications

Engage with Senior Management, Corporate Staff, Safety personnel, IT and Engineering teams, Logistics Management, Sales & Marketing personnel, and Equipment and Facility Maintenance staff.

Maintain regular contact with customers.

Conduct management and staff meetings to organize warehouse activities.

Represent the company in local trade, professional, and civic associations.

Operations

Develop and enforce systems and procedures for warehouse operations, including material handling, transportation equipment, and human resources.

Plan and implement warehouse operations and administrative support to meet productivity and service goals.

Promote safe work habits to prevent injuries and property damage.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing business operations.

Labor Management

Direct the warehouse team to achieve set objectives.

Use effective communication and motivational techniques to supervise, counsel, and discipline subordinates.

Assist Human Resources in creating hiring, training, and professional development programs.

Recommend promotions, wage increases, or terminations as necessary.

Information Technology

Assist the VP of IT with the implementation of warehouse management information systems.

Maintain a working knowledge of company and customer warehouse management systems.

Customer Service

Oversee the establishment and communication of customer service standards for all accounts.

Ensure customers receive the required level of service and quality.

Maintain appropriate contact with customers and respond to requests as needed.

Marketing & Sales

Collaborate with senior management and corporate sales personnel to achieve sales objectives.

Participate in marketing and sales efforts, including planning new account strategies, developing and quoting rates, and local networking.

Budgeting

Develop and recommend an annual operating budget.

Manage controls to ensure service levels and performance goals are met within cost, revenue, and profit parameters.

Negotiate best value with vendors for services and supplies.

Work with corporate accounting to prepare accurate Profit and Loss Statements and Customer Profitability Reports.

Ensure accounts meet predetermined profit standards.

Equipment & Facilities

Develop and enforce programs for equipment and facility maintenance, housekeeping, and safety.

Ensure compliance with security policies and procedures to protect employees, visitors, merchandise, equipment, and property.

Monitor equipment usage and justify the purchase or replacement of equipment to support efficient, cost-effective operations.

What You Need:

A. Education: Preferred: Four-year college degree.

B. Experience: Minimum: 3 years in a similar position.

C. Knowledge/Experience/Skills:



  • An experienced leader in warehouse and logistics.
  • Bi-Lingual (Preferred)


  • Familiarity with personal computers, warehouse management systems, and material handling equipment.


  • Decisive individual with a strategic focus and operational implementation perspective.


  • Effective in planning, staffing, budgeting, organizing, controlling, communicating, and problem-solving.


  • Ability to develop effective relationships, provide leadership, and integrate diverse individuals towards profitability objectives.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Mobility: Ability to move around the warehouse and office areas frequently.

Lifting: Occasionally required to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Stamina: Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.

Dexterity: Capability to handle small and large objects, operate warehouse equipment, and perform basic maintenance tasks.

Vision: Good vision for reading, inspecting, and monitoring warehouse activities and data.

Hearing: Ability to hear alarms, communication from team members, and machinery sounds.

Physical Activity: Frequent bending, stooping, climbing, and reaching.

Warehouse Setting: Primarily works in a warehouse environment, which may involve exposure to varying temperatures, dust, and noise levels.

Office Setting: Some duties are performed in an office setting within the warehouse.

Noise Levels: Moderate to high noise levels from machinery, equipment, and operational activities.

Safety: Regularly exposed to conditions where safety procedures are required, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).

Hours: Working extended hours, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak seasons or to meet deadlines, may be required.

Team Interaction: Constant interaction with warehouse staff, management, and other departments.

Customer Interaction: Periodic meetings and communications with customers.

Travel: Occasional travel may be required for meetings, training, or conferences.
