Basic Qualifications

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree or Juris Doctor degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations

Clearance Requirements:

Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is required. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.


Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Contracts Manager. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

  • Provides domain knowledge in contract strategies and execution
  • Manages a team of contracts professionals providing contractual guidance, business strategy advice, and negotiation/administration support for all phases of the proposal, negotiation and administration of contracts with particular emphasis on maximizing profits and minimizing contract investment and risk
  • Serves as contractual focal point for the business in areas such as regulatory changes, liaison with other functional areas, negotiation strategies, and customer communications and issues
  • Interacts with senior management and customers on major program reviews, significant negotiations and other special projects
  • Advises management of contractual rights and obligations and provides interpretation of terms and conditions
  • Delegates assignments to others for developing solutions to a variety of complex and difficult problems
  • Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function
  • Ensures compliance with company policies, laws and regulations

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrates detailed knowledge of the contracting including federal procurement laws and regulations (e.g., FAR, DFARS, etc.)
  • Demonstrates excellent knowledge of customer communities and business environment
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with personnel at all levels
  • Demonstrates excellent self-motivation and able to exercise prudent business judgment in matters of business importance
  • Is able to think and plan strategically and be proactive with the Contracts needs of the business
  • Demonstrates excellent decision-making ability, negotiation skills and proven leadership competencies
  • Is able to collaborate and work well cross-functionally throughout business
  • Demonstrates adeptness at all responsibilities associated with the position
  • Demonstrates exemplary skills, knowledge and functions at a level beyond the requirements of the position
  • Is fully capable of managing work, setting objectives and meeting commitments, and is an excellent team player
  • Directs oversight of a contracts team of moderate size and significant complexity


Target salary range: USD $153,600.00/Yr. - USD $166,200.00/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
