Summary of Need:

To provide nursing care to children and youth, via interventions and medication administration consistent with the established systematic problem-solving approach for the delivery of comprehensive nursing care, which are compliant with the regulatory standards in a juvenile correctional setting.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct health assessments.
  • Prepare and implement nursing care plans.
  • Diagnose and treat individuals' responses to actual, potential, or diagnosed health problems through nursing services, such as case-finding, health teaching and counseling, and the provision of care supportive to or restorative of life and well-being.
  • Execute medical regimens prescribed by licensed health care providers; and serve as members of interdisciplinary health care teams and health-related committees to plan and implement care for individuals.
  • Maintaining general medical inventory (including controlled substances).
  • Review the overall health conditions of youth (i.e. preparing, reviewing, and evaluating nursing intervention plans).
  • Ensuring that interventions are consistent with comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Participate in staff training.
  • Prepare required clinical and administrative reports.
  • Maintain infection control standards; and serve as a member of the facility's medical treatment team.
  • Additional duties to be discussed in detail during the interview.



Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse in New York State.
  • Minimum of one (1) or more years' experience.
  • Highly motivated, independent thinker and self-starter.
  • Enthusiastic team player.


  • Excellent organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to manage multiple projects. Strong follow-up and communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills. (Word processing, office scheduling, familiar with Windows).



Hours: Full Time - 3 Shifts 7pm to 730am, and 1 day 8 hours between 7pm to 730am.

Contract Length: Up to 2 years
