Purpose of Job The EPIC Business Intelligence Developer owns triaging analytics needs and building solutions within EPIC to meet those needs. This role designs and creates analytics solutions based on in-depth knowledge of operational systems with a level understanding system builds, end user workflows, and patterns of use. The ability to work alongside clinical and business leaders to understand their challenges while determining analytic solutions will play a key role in the success of driving areas forward. Additionally, this role supports leaders through education and use of EPIC's visualization tools and on-going process development to create quality analytics for positive patient outcomes. Job Functions
- Configuring and testing EPIC-released and Foundation System content for all applications, including, but not limited to; Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer, Radar, and Cogito SQL
- Creating content to display EPIC data from Chronicles, Clarity, and Caboodle
- Writing SQL and configuring Radar settings for custom SQL metrics
- Modifying existing reports, as necessary
- Distributing analytics content to data consumers
- Reviewing peer reports for validity
- Working with subject matter experts to understand the needs of data consumers
- Testing analytics build in a specified testing environment and volume testing in live environments
- Reviewing upgrade documentation related to Cogito features and determining how to implement the changes
- Building and maintaining processes and programs including, but not limited to; Cubes, extracts, SlicerDicer custom filters, third-party business intelligence tools, and EPIC data in Caboodle
Minimum Education/Work Experience
- 2+ years relevant experience
- Strong communication skills
- High level of Critical thinking analysis
- User-focused design and data visualization skills
- Proficiency with SQL and relational database concepts
- Proficiency and demonstrated experience with analytics tools
- Ability to gain an in-depth understanding of the data model through data model classes geared toward content areas
Preferred Qualifications
- A degree in engineering, physics, computer sciences, math, information systems, or statistics
- Certified in Cogito Fundamentals and Cogito Tools Administration
- Certified in at least one Epic data model that they support
- Studied or trained in the Epic application fundamentals for their areas of responsibility
- Familiarity with content available for the applications they are working with
- Trained in Cogito SQL, SQL metrics, and SlicerDicer custom filters
- Experience writing analytical reports with Clarity and Caboodle data
- Certified in Epic applications relevant to their areas of responsibility
- Certified and proficient in multiple Epic data models
- Highly skilled in SQL structures and concepts
- For financial reporting: Prior experience working with an AR system
- For clinical reporting: Prior experience working with an EMR system
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions.
- Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above.
