2026 Summer Intern - Synthetic Molecule Analytical Chemistry

This internship position is located in South San Francisco, CA (on-site).

The Opportunity

  • Develop high-throughput LC-MS-CAD methods for universal quantitation in reaction screening.

  • Implement and optimize an inverse LC gradient to achieve an optimal CAD baseline and correct response across the gradient.

  • Collaborate with scientists to analyze results, interpret data, and document findings for potential workflow improvements in reaction screening data analysis.

  • Meet regularly with the mentor to discuss progress, results, and future plans. Engage in team collaborations to meet research goals.

  • Summarize key research findings during the internship, deliver oral and poster presentations to the SMAC department and gRED scientific community.

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

  • Program start dates are in May/June (Summer)

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

  • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

  • Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are

Required Education:

You meet one of the following criteria:

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student).

  • Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student).

  • Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student).

Required Majors: Analytical Chemistry, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Material Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.

Required Skills:

  • Foundational knowledge of organic chemistry and liquid chromatography.

  • Strong experimental and data interpretation skills.

  • Effective written and verbal communication; ability to collaborate in a team setting.

  • Enthusiasm for problem-solving and innovation in analytical chemistry.

Other Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

  • Complements our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions: Integrity, Courage, and Passion.

  • Hands-on experience on other analytical techniques (e.g., MS) is a plus.

  • Familiarity in Python or similar tools for data analytics is a plus.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $26.00-$46.00 per hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
