Environmental Specialist

The Opportunity:

In this position, you will serve as an environmental specialist supporting Department of Defense (DoD) clients with environmental program management, policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, and data analysis. You will have the opportunity to support meetings, conferences, and other key initiatives to advance DoD's environmental program and implement Administration priorities. The DoD's environmental program includes cleanup of contaminated sites, overseas environmental compliance, environmental planning, natural resources , and compliance, including drinking water, clean water, wastewater, air, hazardous waste, and toxins. You will apply experience in data analytics and program management support to this position. You will leverage the ability to work independently and as part of a team on multiple projects, and adapt to new and changing priorities.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide daily on-site management support to DoD environmental programs including data analysis, policy analysis, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Provide meeting support and coordination to internal DoD and external partner meetings and conferences to facilitate successful client mission implementation. Specific activities may include providing on-site or virtual logistics support, developing agendas, talking points, meeting materials, presentations, and meeting summaries, participating in the meeting to capture key discussion points and follow-on actions.
  • Collect, compile, analyze, and manage datasets to evaluate the impact of and track DoD's environmental programs progress to support policy development, program management, and oversight.
  • Research various environmental issues and draw succinct conclusions to include in reports and presentations.
  • Support the development of environmental policies, guidance, and planning documents, including researching and analyzing laws, regulations, and policies, drafting policies and guidance documents, and adjudicating comments.
  • Draft reports and outreach materials, such as fact sheets, graphics, websites, and social media, to communicate with various audiences on environmental-related topics.
  • Track environmental progress against performance measures, federal and state legislation regulations, and guidance, and compile relevant information in client-ready format.

You Have:

  • 1+ years of experience with hazardous substances, natural resources, clean water, safe drinking water, hazardous waste, or environmental planning
  • Experience with program or policy support, including research, data analysis, writing, and logistics
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, policies, or science
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in an environmental science, environmental policy, public policy, or public administration field

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with the DoD, Federal agencies, non-governmental organizations, or state agencies
  • Knowledge of the structure and missions of the DoD
  • Knowledge of PowerPoint or graphics software to create and manipulate sophisticated presentation graphics
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on multiple projects
  • Ability to represent the company through daily interaction with clients virtually or in-person
  • Ability to pay strict attention to detail to efficiently achieve thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing tasks
  • Possession of excellent time management skills, including adaptability in responding to multiple priorities and conflicting deadlines
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $48,000.00 to $98,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
