Hours: 12-hour shifts - 7:00pm to 7:00am

Location: St Joseph Medical Center- Kansas City, MO

We are seeking an ICU Registered Nurse, also referred to as an ICU RN, Intensive Care Nurse or Intensive Care Unit RN. The Intensive Care RN (ICU RN) will be responsible for providing intensive care to patients with life-threatening conditions. The ICU RN will have advanced skills in critical care settings, make quick decisions, and will be compassionate to all patients. An ICU RN monitors vital signs, blood oxygen levels, administer IV Fluids, and communicates effectively to the medical team to modify care plans accordingly.

Responsibilities

* If you have experience in the ICU, Emergency Room (ER), Emergency Department (ED) or other critical care area of the hospital you are encouraged to apply! **

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Deliver high-quality care to critically ill patients through comprehensive assessments, tailored care plans, and advanced nursing interventions.
  • Operate and monitor critical equipment, including cardiac monitors, ventilators, infusion pumps, and capnography devices, to track vital signs and physiological status.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and blood products accurately, ensuring safe dosing and monitoring patient responses.
  • Manage life-support systems such as ventilators and dialysis machines.
  • Provide emotional support and education to families, serving as a liaison for clear communication about care plans.
  • Document all aspects of patient care and maintain strict infection control and safety protocols.


Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

1. Current and valid state RN License.
2. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
3. Completion of Critical Care Course preferred.
4. Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
5. Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
6. Minimum of one year as a staff RN in acute care hospital, critical care preferred.
7. Critical Care RN (CCRN) Certification preferred.
8. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
