Maintenance Mechanic I The Mechanic I performs entry level to intermediate maintenance, repair, and installation work on machinery, equipment and building systems. This position assists higher level maintenance mechanics and technicians in troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the facilities and operations equipment.

Essential Functions & Requirements:



  • Prioritize health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and always maintaining safe practices
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance an equipment, machinery and building systems.
  • Assist in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic problems
  • Replace or repair defective components such as bearings, belts, motors, valves and sensors
  • Maintain tools, equipment and maintenance work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition
  • Support installation or modification of equipment under supervision
  • Maintain recordkeeping of maintenance repairs and tool utilization logs
  • Respond to maintenance requests and equipment breakdowns in a timely manner
  • Operates forklift, man lift, scissor lift, skid steer, all terrain forklift or similar machinery as needed
  • Utilizes the appropriately required personal protective equipment (PPE), as this position works around hazardous materials
  • Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization



Education:



  • High-school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • 1-3 years of mechanical maintenance experience (preferred)


Experience:



  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in mechanical maintenance (required)


Competencies:



  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Regular and predictable attendance to perform the functions and requirements of this role
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, ability to troubleshoot systems, basic welding skills
  • Ability to work at heights of up to 80 ft in a man lift
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals and work orders
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Basic computer literacy for maintenance record keeping and storeroom parts inventory


Additional Requirements:



  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must have citizenship or be a naturalized citizen
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
