State Department Federal Credit Union is seeking a Lead Mortgage Loan Officerto assist the Manager of Mortgage Lending and the Director of Mortgage Operations in leading a team towards aggressive sales and production goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Oversees daily production flow and pipeline, by directing the work of RE Loan Officers. Works collaboratively with team and providing support, structure and file guidance as needed. Reports daily workload to the Manager of Mortgage Lending / Director of Mortgage Operations.
  • Handles member and staff inquiries about the status of pending mortgage applications, programs, policies and procedures.
  • Reviews mortgage loan applications for completeness, enters loans in the current mortgage processing system, orders credit reports, prepares debt payment ratios, and checks for accuracy of above information.
  • Provides guidance to the Real Estate Underwriters, Real Estate Loan Officers and Real Estate Closer/Disbursers with questions on policies/procedures and how they apply to individual situations.
  • Recommends procedures for mortgage loan programs and provides coaching to Loan Officers to ensure consistent practice and proper administration of procedures as well as swift and accurate handling of mortgage applications.
  • Conducts member and staff related webinars and seminars for continuous education.
  • Makes recommendations and implements plans for the operation of the Mortgage Lending department to include equipment, personnel, scheduling, workflow, work methods, and incentives.
  • Reviews and audits individual files and pipelines for completeness, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Prepares production report of mortgage processing/disbursement figures and submits weekly to Manager of Mortgage Lending for review.
  • Assists Manager with development, implementation, processing and monitoring of mortgage loan programs and monitors all loans in the pipeline to ensure regulatory requirements are met and all documentation is in compliance.


Qualifications

Required Skills and Competencies:



  • Minimum of three years of experience working with mortgage loans
  • Associates degree with mortgage, financial, or business concentration desired
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to use sound judgment and diplomacy
  • Experience using Word Perfect, Lotus, Windows and FICS system
