Job Details

A Pharmacist in our organization is a charismatic, team-oriented individual with a dedication to customer service and patient care. An intellectual with a working knowledge of business operations and financials, strong communication, astute problem-solving skills, and experience in retail/community pharmacy would be a good fit for this role.This position is located at our client site, Reading Hospital, in the pharmacy call center.

Location: Onsite West Reading, PA 19611

Hours: Monday to Friday from 7:00am-5:30pm EST.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform prescription clinical and product verification using the pharmacy management system.

  • Review and evaluate patient medication therapy for appropriateness and potential drug interactions.

  • Conduct initial reviews and processing of prescriptions, including charge reviews and prescription transfers.

  • Supervise pharmacy call center technicians and provide training as needed.

  • Participates in achieving business goals and metrics for the ambulatory pharmacy, including assisting in marketing events and promotions.

  • Provide customer service to patients, addressing questions and concerns regarding medication therapy via telephone or other online means.

  • Consult with prescribers to clarify and determine appropriate therapy as needed. Contact patients for follow-ups, clarifications.

  • Establish streamlined communication between the call center and supported pharmacies.

  • Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations, including DEA and FDA guidelines.

  • Monitor and manage inventory within the automated system, ensuring proper stock levels.

  • Track metrics such as prescriptions clinically reviewed, flags resolved, and ACD phone metrics.

  • Enter incident reports and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

  • Supervise activities related to patient profiles and contacts, ensuring that they are updated as needed for insurance verification and regulatory compliance.

  • Assist in the hiring, training, and performance management of pharmacy technicians.

  • In collaboration with management, assists and reviews daily team scheduling and adjusts workflow and scheduling as appropriate to assure optimal patient care is maintained.

  • Participate in departmental meetings and in-service training for pharmacy technicians.

  • Work at onsite pharmacies if needed.

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Education :

Bachelor of Science Degree or Pharm D degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy. Current, unrestricted pharmacist license in Pennsylvania. 5 years of experience in ambulatory, retail, or mail-order pharmacy preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Ability to work efficiently under time and volume constraints.

  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical products and disease states.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to resolve patient issues quickly and creatively in order to improve customer satisfaction.

  • Proficient use of technology, with experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Epic is a plus.
