Grounds/Logistics Leadperson - Central Campus

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Supervise and perform work on all San Jacinto College Campuses, including College administration offices and satellite campuses.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Assure that all personnel under your direction have access to, knowledge of, and proficiency with applicable procedures to assure safe work outcomes in all tasks undertaken.
  • Manage work orders in College Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) by priority and follow up on completed work with customers for assessment of completion and quality. Assist the District Supervisor, Grounds and Logistics in the development of weekly work schedules and plans.
  • Leads grounds and logistics crews in their work assignments to include proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety practices.
  • Perform and/or manage preparation and set-ups for College events.
  • Coordinate and/or perform moves of furniture and equipment, as well as stored material and equipment, ensuring proper disposition of items, auction company interaction and proper documentation completion.
  • Perform and/or manage basic cleaning and maintenance of college facilities and grounds, including replacement of damaged or stained ceiling tiles. Completes special projects assuring clean and functional College facilities and grounds.
  • Perform and/or manage landscape maintenance duties and specialized tasks including mowing, trimming, sweeping/blowing, clipping, planting, and mulching. Specialized tasks include fertilizing, pruning, spraying chemicals, landscape design and renovation/installation.
  • Perform and/or manage basic preventive maintenance tasks on college tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Apply and manage pest control in accordance with state laws, regulations, and policies, including inventory and document control.
  • Manage sports field maintenance program using chemicals and practices necessary to achieve the maximum quality and safest playing surface, implantation, and maintenance of NJCAA soccer field, softball field, baseball field and intramural flag football field.
  • Operates personnel lift (man lift) to perform building maintenance and/or window cleaning services.
  • Serve as team member of Facilities Services emergency planning and response team responding to major interruptions of College services.
Additional Job Functions:
  • Perform all the job functions of grounds and logistics personnel when the needs arise.
  • Operate forklift and other heavy equipment, including but not limited to tractors and lifts.
  • Maintain the inventory of all reusable supplies, order parts and supplies.
  • Block/direct traffic for special events
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to demonstrate the College values
Required Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Required Experience:
  • Two (2) years in a facilities maintenance field with one (1) year supervision of facilities maintenance
Preferred Experience:
  • Five years in a facilities maintenance field with five (5) years of supervision of facilities maintenance
Required Licenses/Certifications:
  • Valid Driver License (must obtain a Texas Driver License within 60 days of employment)
Preferred Licenses/Certifications:
  • Valid Texas Commercial Driver License
  • Landscape Irrigation License
Note: The duties of this position require a physical presence at the assigned on-site work location during unrestricted operations with very limited or no opportunity for remote work arrangements.

Salary Grade: 108
