Additional Job Description:

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics seek a Chief for our Division of Neonatology, qualified for appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank. The successful candidate will practice at WVU Medicine Children's Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

Duties: The Chief will lead a team of 11 neonatal faculty providing care in our Level IV NICU and supporting four regional Level II/III nurseries, as well as a growing NICU follow-up clinic. Responsibilities include providing excellent patient care; working collaboratively with other pediatric subspecialists; actively teaching medical students, residents, and fellows; supervising neonatal advanced practice providers; and improving neonatal care through quality improvement or research. Prior demonstrated success in faculty development, division operations, and/or strategic program growth is strongly desired.

Qualifications: Candidates must hold an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent), be eligible for state medical licensure, have completed accredited pediatrics residency and neonatal fellowship programs, and be board-certified in neonatology. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment. Evidence of prior leadership experience (e.g., director-level role, program leadership, or committee leadership) is preferred.

Practice Site: WVU Medicine Children's Hospital is a new 150-bed facility opened in 2022. The hospital includes 52 NICU beds - including twin suites and a nesting room for parents - immediately adjacent to a 30-bed Birthing Center with a dedicated infant resuscitation room. Prenatal consultations are conducted in the onsite maternal-fetal medicine clinic. The Children's Hospital includes pediatric operating rooms, cardiac catheterization/interventional radiology, and GI endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff. Additional facilities include 34 pediatric beds, 26 PICU beds, and dedicated Cancer and Heart Centers. WVU Medicine Children's is a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to advance to Level I (adult Level I already designated). J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital is the only hospital in West Virginia with a pediatric cardiac surgery program, the only pediatric epilepsy monitoring unit in the state, and the only hospital in West Virginia to receive Magnet status for nursing excellence.

Successful candidate may also be assigned to provide services at other worksites providing neonatal care, including but not necessarily limited to, West Virginia University Hospitals, Inc., West Virginia University Medical Corporation doing business as "University Health Associates," at Mon Health Medical Center and Wheeling Hospital located in West Virginia and, as such, travel may be expected to fulfill said duties at these other worksites.
