What You'll Be Doing Set up and operate band saws to cut metal materials including steel, aluminum, and other alloys. Read and interpret job travelers, blueprints, cut lists, and mechanical drawings to determine cutting requirements. Measure and mark materials using calipers, micrometers, tape measures, or other precision tools. Select proper blades based on material type and thickness. Monitor saw performance and adjust feed rates, blade tension, and cutting angles as needed. Perform routine machine checks and basic preventative maintenance (blade changes, lubrication, cleaning).
