Position Summary

Reporting to Sr. Director of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting, Manager of Payroll, will serve as the subject matter expert for payroll taxes, garnishments, pay practices and policies for the US and LATAM entities. Serve as subject matter expert for Federal and States Wage and hour laws and regulations. This position requires someone who has strong analytical skills, problem solving and leadership skills. Someone can identify issues, find root causes, provide training and support to the payroll team. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in payroll processing, multi-state compliance, and stock-based compensation. This role will partner closely with Finance, HR, and Stock Administration to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant payroll execution.

Major Responsibilities



  • In-depth knowledge of multi-state taxes including tax adjustments and calculations.
  • Collaborate with the Stock Administration and Accounting teams to process quarterly RSU vesting events, including the calculation and withholding of applicable taxes.
  • Ensure vested RSUs are accurately reflected on employee pay stubs and reported correctly for payroll tax purposes.
  • Reconcile RSU-related payroll transactions with equity records and support quarterly and year-end reporting.
  • Understands how taxes apply to NQSO, RSU's, and ISO.
  • Understands how the systems work and connect between ADPWFN and HRIS.
  • Maintain SOX compliance and strengthen internal controls over payroll. Maintains knowledge of the company policies and procedures relating to payroll.
  • Understands the impacts of other areas such as G/L, Stock, Benefits.
  • Stay updated with evolving payroll regulations, industry trends, and emerging technologies in payroll management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, stock administration, finance, legal, and IT, to streamline payroll processes and data integration.
  • Ensures the efficient and accurate payroll processing in alignment with all internal controls, including retroactive pays, exempt and non-exempt payroll processing, bonuses, status changes, timecards, new hires, terminations, special pay adjustments, garnishments, W2s, amendments, reconciliations, etc.
  • Process international payroll for our LATAM region, which includes the countries of Colombia, Mexico, and Brazil, while working with our third-party payroll providers.
  • Oversee multi-jurisdictional taxation, including remote employee taxation, reconciling quarterly and year-end payroll tax returns for federal, state and local taxes, as required. Research and resolves any issues related to tax return filings, penalty notices, garnishments, timecards, etc.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive information.



Key Qualifications:



  • Ability to explain things precisely in verbal and writing.
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of best Payroll practices plus Payroll tax compliance requirements
  • Elite attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Intermediate Excel Skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem solving.
  • Strong system knowledge - ADPWFN, Oracle is a plus.
  • Knowledge of worker's comp, 401k, and other payroll related areas including LATAM is a plus.
  • Eager to learn, adaptability, teamwork.
  • Excellent understanding of HCM and Equity Edge systems and their integration with payroll systems.
  • Excellent understanding of ADP.



Essential Requirements



  • If Manager, minimum of 8 years of payroll processing with at least 3 years of managing a team of payroll processors in a hyper-growth, public high-tech organization.

Wage ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, and job level. Earnings for this position are expected to be $118,000 - $180,000 Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate's subject knowledge, skill level, qualifications, experience, and geographic location.

All roles are eligible to participate in the Fortinet equity program, Bonus eligibility is reviewed at time of hire and annually at the Company's discretion
