The Cyber Operations Branch of the Asymmetric Operations Sector at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking a strategic leader with demonstrated expertise in cybersecurity to contribute toward innovations in cyber operations capabilities that enable the US to shape and prevail against cyber threats.

As a Cyber Operations Branch Full Spectrum Expert/Leader, you will...

Apply your deep knowledge of cybersecurity operations and demonstrated strategic thinking in developing the future direction of the Cyber Operations Branch by shaping internal research and by providing leadership and expertise to assist engineers and scientists in developing innovations to support full spectrum cyber operations.

Provide thought leadership and technical expertise in the advancement of full spectrum cyber operations, cyber vulnerability analysis, software assurance, implementation of AI frameworks to advance cyber operations in support of big data problems such as cyber situational awareness and monitoring.

Provide technical leadership in helping the Cyber Operations Branch build a coherent vision and supporting strategies, and executing them to deliver critical contributions.

Develop strategic alliances with key sponsors in the Defense, Intelligence and Government communities.


Qualifications

You meet the minimum qualifications for this position if you have:

Master 's degree in a science and technology discipline such as computer science, mathematics, or electrical/computer engineering.

At least 20 years of related computer or information security experience at a strategic level.

Demonstrated strategic thinker and leader with systems engineering experience and the ability to integrate ideas from multiple disciplines.

Recognized expertise in cybersecurity and or information technology.

Strategic knowledge of Intelligence Community directions.

Proven track record of delivering results in developing new concepts.

Commitment to ensuring national security missions.

Excellent speaking and writing skills and experience in effectively communicating to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Hold an active TS/SCI security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you have:

Ten+ years of experience in cybersecurity leadership positions, such as senior scientist or manager of a cybersecurity organization or military/Government leadership positions in planning or execution of cyber defense/operations.

Previous experience working with Intelligence Community and DoD sponsors.

Experience in leading and setting direction in support of strategic planning.

Previous success in creatively addressing hard, real-world problems, delivering results.

Active TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
