The Dairy Genetics Specialist provides regional support to dairy farmers utilizing Dairy Genetic testing in the United States. Primarily, the representative is expected to provide training and onboarding of the genetics testing process, as well as troubleshooting to ensure that customers maximize the impact of the technology. Secondarily, the position will incorporate marketing activation related to the genetics platform. It will be advantageous for the person to have a strong understanding of the dairy business and dairy genetic basics. The position will require travel and nights away from home to support Dairy Genetics business.

This role is designed to be specific in nature, however, will have exposure to both sales and marketing functions to foster growth into more advanced positions. Candidates should possess and develop skills required for future sales and/or marketing roles, as directed by Marketing Lead.

Position Responsibilities

  • Aligning with Field Force on newly established Genetics accounts to successfully onboard customers with the Genetics ordering process and results reporting.
  • Utilizing excellent presentation skills to conduct educational training that will build trust with customers through developing reliability, credibility and follow-up.
  • Managing a broad geographic area with a diverse customer base to achieve genetic sales targets and objectives.
  • Technical & commercial knowledge - general knowledge of dairy industry, in-depth product knowledge of Zoetis genetic products, and business & financial acumen of local customer base.
  • Teamwork - share, collaborate and act as a team player.
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned and directed.

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree (BS/BA) preferred
  • A minimum of 6 months of cattle-related experience
  • Animal Health experience and knowledge of dairy genetics industry is preferred

Technical Skills Requirements

  • In-depth product and disease knowledge
  • Experience with Dairy Comp, DHI Plus, Bovisync, PC Dart or other herd management software is
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and online applications

Physical Position Requirements

  • The position will require a valid drivers license
  • Majority of colleague's time will be spent in the state of Wisconsin with remainder focused on the other parts of the regions
    • While travel to other parts of the region might not be consistent, requirements may present themselves
  • Willingness to travel to customer locations across defined geography - Genetics Customer focused
  • Requires individual to be able to be on site at farm or facility if needed to complete required task(s)
