That's why we're looking for a Legal Administrative Assistant to provide comprehensive administrative support to assigned legal staff.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for...



  • Scheduling appointments, making travel and/or meeting arrangements and maintaining business calendars as instructed
  • Prioritizing assignments and preparing often sensitive and detailed correspondence; proofreading and editing text for grammatical and typographical errors
  • Opening new client files, preparing engagement letters, and follow-up with clients; maintaining electronic client files and share sites
  • Supporting time entry; coordinating with billing attorneys and billing team on all monthly pre-bills and necessary revisions
  • Preparing bills for mailing and maintaining billing records.
  • Maintaining confidentiality, assuring work product is accurate and presented professionally and fostering a positive rapport with all internal and external contacts


The successful candidate will demonstrate...



  • A minimum of 2 years of related administrative support experience in a fast-paced, high-performance culture; experience supporting partner level attorneys preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint and database/Internet research skills
  • Superb attention to detail, grammar, and punctuation, and the ability to articulate thoughts and effectively present new ideas and findings with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to learn firm software systems for time entry, billing and file storage
  • Proactive thinker with strong judgment and decision making skills; proven ability to successfully prioritize and meet deadlines with little to no supervision
  • Ability to coordinate and manage routine administrative work, such as scheduling meetings, making travel arrangements, preparing expense reimbursements, etc.


Pay Range for Candidates in Washington, DC:

$70,000 - $110,000 per year

The range provided is the minimum and maximum salary that Venable in good faith believes at the time of this posting that it is willing to pay for the advertised position. Exact compensation will be determined based on individual candidate qualifications and location. Additional compensation may include discretionary bonuses and overtime, if eligible. Overtime wages earned will be paid in compliance with applicable law.
