Position Description: |
The Department of Communication Studies seeks an instructional-track faculty member at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor of instruction who will teach media production classes beginning in August 2026. Candidates must have professional experience in all areas of audio and visual media production, including field and studio production, and pre- and post-production. We prefer candidates with experience in radio, audio, and/or podcasting and those who can contribute to the development of new courses in media production at UI. The candidate will teach 8 courses per year: 4 in the fall semester and 4 in the spring semester. The University and Department value interdisciplinary work. The successful candidate will join a vibrant community with faculty from diverse research backgrounds, including three main departmental areas: (1) interpersonal communication and relationships, (2) media history and culture, and (3) rhetoric, culture, and engagement. We are particularly interested in candidates who can strengthen interdisciplinary connections with other units across the University of Iowa. Education Requirement: |
- A bachelor's degree or higher in the appropriate field awarded by the position start date in August 2026.

Required Qualifications: |
- Professional experience in production as described above.
|
Desirable Qualifications: |
- Experience in audio production fields such as radio and/or podcasting.
- Experience teaching college-level media courses.
- Terminal degree in communication, media, or related field.
- Ability to contribute to the development of new courses in media production.
- Demonstrated ability to manage student internship opportunities.
