General Function:
- Perform Engineering Management tasks and coordinate with AFLCMC and external agencies (e.g., security, IT, public affairs, test organizations) to ensure smooth operations.
- Support acquisition, development, and sustainment of weapon systems, subsystems, and support equipment.
- Provide technical support related to Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E).
- Review Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Requests for Variance (RFVs), and maintain configuration baselines.
- Participate in Technology Insertion discussions, Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), and technical/programmatic reviews.
- Support failure analysis and develop cost-effective reliability, maintainability, and availability improvements.
- Support system lifecycle analyses, investment strategies, manufacturing, support, and end-of-life planning.
- Apply knowledge of DoD and AF engineering principles to enhance system operations and oversight.
- Translate user requirements into system-level specifications and design baselines (architecture and interoperability).
- Review proposals, specifications, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs); support various meetings and reviews.
- Develop requirements and technology needs to support world-class training systems.
- Assist in technical/mission analysis and perform trade-off studies for proposed designs.
- Support system design reviews, developmental planning, and mission requirement definition.
- Participate in technical meetings, system requirement reviews, and test readiness reviews.
- Review and analyze change proposals for technical feasibility and policy compliance.
- Develop and review detailed specifications, including CDRLs and system-level documents.
- Conduct system analyses including feasibility, configuration audits, and technological assessments.
- Support creation and evaluation of Integrated Master Plans (IMP), Integrated Master Schedules (IMS), and Systems Engineering Detail Schedules (SEDS).
- Assist in system test plan evaluation and participate in system/component-level testing.
- Provide integration support for systems/subsystems during acquisition and verification phases.
- Conduct lifecycle assessments and trade studies on cost, performance, supportability, risk, and schedule.
- Interface with multiple levels of management and functional stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
- Participate in engineering boards and committees to discuss and implement technical solutions.
- Evaluate data items such as specs, drawings, reports, plans, and life cycle cost estimates.
- Support the development and assessment of engineering documentation (e.g., System Requirements Docs, SEP, OSS&E baseline docs).
- Conduct systems engineering assessments and assist in identifying program risks per AFI 63-101.
- Prepare briefings and reports in support of acquisition program management.
- Support design, development, procurement, and testing of training systems with broad engineering expertise.
- Analyze and recommend solutions to system performance issues and contribute to product proposal development.
- Support engineering teams in resolving major technical issues and developing consistent policies.
- Provide support for CONUS and OCONUS site bed-down planning.
- Deliver technical guidance and support to AFLCMC system programs, including feasibility studies and technology evaluations.
- Monitor technical trends and recommend updates to maintain program relevancy.
- Assess technical risks and present options to the program office for resolution.
- Participate in conferences, meetings, investigations, and reviews of engineering change proposals.
- Review aircrew and maintenance training plans, test procedures, and related reports.
- Sign NDAs and contribute to source selection technical proposal evaluations as a non-voting member.
- Assist in development/maintenance of Program Protection documentation (e.g., SCGs, PSDs, TA/CPs, PPPs, AT plans).
- Contribute to facility security documentation and ensure compliance with physical and export control requirements.
- Recommend changes to DoD and Air Force security policies and maintain all engineering records per AF ERM guidelines.
- Support Program Protection Plans (PPP), including:
- Participation in security working groups
- Maintaining PPP databases
- Identifying Critical Program Information (CPI) and conducting Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM)
- Identifying threats and analyzing vulnerabilities
- Recommending countermeasures and integrating threat-based security strategies
- Assist with technical procurement, modification, and performance requirement tasks.
- Provide support for training system analysis, development planning, risk management, and integration.
- Support hardware/software integration, acceptance testing, information assurance certification, and facilities setup.
- Provide technical assistance with visual, radar, IR/EO systems, flight dynamics modeling, and tactical databases.
- Assist with networking/distributed mission operations integration in training systems.
- Perform systems engineering, cost estimation, and concurrency tracking for simulation systems.
- Act as PMO liaison during test events and SIMCERTs.
- Support information assurance activities related to training device certification/accreditation.
- Assist with concurrency management including issue investigation, requirement definition, cost analysis, and modification documentation.
- Support aeronautical engineering by establishing test plans, procedures, and enforcing simulator standards.
- Assist in planning and supporting aircraft test efforts.
- Provide human factors engineering support by assessing new technologies and concepts for training systems.
- Assist in planning and organizing engineering efforts related to courseware development in simulated environments.
Qualifications: Education/Certifications/Experience/Skills:
- MA/MS Degree with 10 years of directly related experience or BA/BS with 12 years of directly related experience or 15 years of directly related experience to this discipline.
- Must possess and maintain a government security clearance at the Secret Level.
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Applications and other standard applications.
