Job Posting Title: Supervisor, Quality Assurance

Time Type: Full Time

The Quality Supervisor supports the organization in the development, improvement, and implementation of the organization's Logistics Quality System.This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of loads and shipments, handling shipping, and packaging issues,investigating, and correctingOS&D (over, short, and damaged) issues, and ensuring that the Distribution Center maintains compliance with applicable regulations.The position will also conduct Distribution Center audits and prepare SOPs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Works in the Distribution Center, ensuring the quality of the loads and product shipments, handling any packaging issues (e.g., leaks), and investigating and correcting OS&D (over, short, and damaged) issues.



  • Conducts audits of the Distribution Center, ensuring compliance with all established processes and procedures.
  • Interpret regulatory requirements and provide guidance for effective compliance, as well as providing support for programs and projects, especially those requiring compliance.
  • Ensure facility conformance to ISO / TS 16949 standard.
  • Improve existing and develop new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), writing and implementing associated procedures and other documentation.
  • Provide training and guidance when required on new / revised SOPs. Develop auditing material to ensure SOP content understanding.
  • Conduct investigations of undesirable trends affecting the quality of products in distribution, performing root cause analysis, and developing and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Assist with coordination of recalls, hold notifications, stop-shipments, etc., in consultation with management of supplying organization / factory.


  • Serve as the primary contact for any external or internal audit, with responsibility to implement any resulting corrective actions.

  • Performs other duties as required
  • Able to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends, as required by the operation. Participate in established cross training metrics activities with the opportunity to improve their knowledge in multiple areas / departments and be able to assist as a backup when the need may rise.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Shipping & Receiving Coordinate audits for all inbound and/or outbound product functions including unloading, checking, orderly stacking, storing, order pulling, staging, checking, labeling and loading. Assist with development, improvement and compliance of operating procedures.

Labor management Assist with associate relations, training, and personnel development. Provide timely performance appraisals and counseling.

Written communication Transmit e-mails to UTi representatives and PASA (when required), write corrective/preventive actions, complete reports for operations manager, follow-up with attendance reports, write counseling memos and write/perform evaluations. All communications must be accurate and professional.

Verbal communication Assist with conducting daily startup meetings, encouraging associates to provide feedback and work as a team and help with their development (training), coordinate operations with manager to ensure completion of daily objectives, report and discuss any internal or external issues that involving the operation.

Miscellaneous Provide good communication and motivational techniques and ensure all company rules are followed. Develop team leaders and ensure that associate expectations are being followed. Provide leadership on continuous improvement projects, quality initiatives, etc. as established by Logistics Quality or local site management. Demonstrated ability to work independently and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Ability to deal confidently and effectively with internal and external customers at all levels of the organization. Demonstrated proficiency in analytical and problem solving and computing skills, specifically using Microsoft Office Applications

Responsibility and AuthorityInitiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, process, and quality system; to identify and record any problems relating to the product, process, and quality system; to initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels; to verify the implementation of solutions.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

1-3 years, experience in organizational and personnel skills is helpful.



  • Should have good communication skills, written and oral; also helpful are leadership, supervision, and planning skills.
  • Experience in ISO/TS 16949 standard.


  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • 2 - 4-year college degree preferred but not required
