Location: Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD

Full Time/Days: 7:00am-3:30pm

Weekend Rotations Required

Position Summary:



  • Reports to the Director, Performance Improvement Programs, and Assistant Administrator and serves as a primary resource for development and maintenance of Quality Assurance Programs in assigned areas.
  • Directs the work of assigned personal in the assessment of QA data.
  • Collects, summarizes and evaluates quality control data, investigating problems, and recommending solutions.
  • Assists in development, revision, and/or monitoring of laboratory procedures and quality assurance programs including proficiency testing and regulatory compliance. Provides technical consultation services for JHMI laboratories, near patient testing areas, and other facilities.
  • Partners with IT/Applications teams for the review, analysis, testing, implementation, and upgrade of laboratory software applications and technologies. Conducts presentation to varied interest groups. Frequent travel throughout JHM geography/to each campus or affiliate hospital is required (when assigned).


Minimum Qualifications:

Education:



  • Work requires a high level of professional knowledge in medical technology or laboratory science as acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or equivalent, which included a one year supervised clinical internship in an approved laboratory, plus three or more years progressive responsibility in the specialty of Quality Assurance.


Work Experience:



  • Work requires five to ten years of experience to acquire knowledge and familiarity with laboratory policies and procedures. Of those years of experience, minimum three years must have included progressive involvement with Quality Assurance.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish goals and meet laboratory objectives is essential.


Required Licensure, Certification, On-going Training:



  • Certification in Medical Technology or equivalent from ASCP or other department approved agency is required

Salary Range: Minimum 38.98/hour - Maximum 64.37/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
