Job Summary

The primary function of the Sales Engineer (SE) position is to promote and sell Mason's products and services within an assigned geographic area, market industry, product range or list of customer accounts in order to achieve sales and profit targets. Sets strategy and coordinates all activity for the assigned accounts. Drives growth of profitable new business and sells the customer on the value we create. Identifies objectives, strategies and action plans to improve short and long-term sales and company growth. Through direct interaction with current and potential customers, assess needs and requirements, deliver technical presentations, product solutions, and other data as required, to support the sales process.


Primary Responsibilities


  • Penetrates our account base at all levels and develops strong relationships for opportunities in a technical sales arena, developing strategies to grow the business.
  • Help define appropriate applications of technology to address end applications and articulate customers' requirements and needs.
  • Develop and present sales support material, including marketing and training presentations, white papers, etc.
  • Provides input and keeps up-to-date the sales funnel.
  • Research and understand existing solutions and all competitive product offerings
  • Takes an active role in pricing and proposal recommendations including strategic rationale. Work with the team to prepare business cases for profitable new business that delivers value to the customer.
  • Works with product managers to present Mason capabilities to our customer base.
  • Takes on prospecting tasks as necessary to hunt for new customers.
  • Develop an understanding of the competitive landscape and competitors' strategies so we may navigate around them.
  • Provides accurate and detailed trip reports, bookings forecast, analyzes booking trends for their territory.
  • Provide market intelligence (market trends, competitive information, regulatory issues, product strengths and weaknesses based on customer feedback, etc.) and contributes to the company's knowledge base.
  • Ensures compliance to Department of Commerce Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and Department of State International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
  • Maintain the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above.


Education/Previous Experience Requirements


  • BS degree in Engineering or Business.
  • Special consideration for advanced degree.
  • Proven success in Sales management using strong coaching skills.
  • Minimum of 3 years of success in technical relationship building based on record of accomplishments - preferably in electro-mechanical components for Aerospace and Defense.
  • Proven year-over-year track record of success in Engineering, Program Management or Sales.
  • Demonstrated success in

    - building strong customer relationships.

    - key accounts penetration at all levels.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Proactive, positive and customer focused attitude.
  • Expectation of knowledge of ITAR, contracts, pricing, and operations in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding planning and organizational skills.
  • Expected travel to the region: 50%.

Pay Compensation Range for this Exempt position: 110,000- 140,000.
