Position Title: SUBCONTRACT ADMINISTRATOR

Position Summary: This position is primarily responsible for subcontract and related activities. This position also provides back-up for other Purchasing positions.

Reports To: Purchasing Manager

Personnel: Not applicable.

Accountabilities: Accountable for understanding and following all SOPs and WIs related to job duties while supporting 6S and Lean Manufacturing concepts. Ensure all subcontract services are procured with vendors capable of meeting quality requirements at the best value to Major Tool.

Authorities: Issue purchase orders on behalf of Major Tool within guidelines.

Duties:

  • Support MTM quote and pricing activity for subcontracted operations
  • Generate purchase orders for subcontract/sublet services as needed
  • Contact responsible Engineer to correct any noted router correction
  • Interview suppliers and evaluate capabilities are compatible with requirements. Subcontract complete projects to vendors, as directed.
  • Expedite orders to ensure on-time delivery as determined by the Visual Mfg. schedule.
  • Arrange transportation for product shipment as required, per guidelines.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery, and terms of sale with suppliers.
  • Input all changes into purchasing system, as they occur.
  • Recommend and process documentation to set up new vendors.
  • Perform on-site audits of suppliers as required.
  • Source inspection of Major Tool manufactured products at vendor facility as required.
  • Investigate and follow up on vendor related non-conformances.
  • Act as backup for Procurement Specialist and Purchasing Agent as required.
  • Special projects as assigned.
  • May verify invoices from suppliers with purchase orders and approve invoices for payment.

Job Qualification Requirements:

Educational Experience - High school diploma or GED required. Blueprint reading and understanding of GD&T preferred.

Experience - Procurement and manufacturing experience desired.

Physical Demands - The employee is required to:

  • stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to floor
  • exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or
  • exert 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or
  • exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Certification Required - Must have a valid driver's license

Visual Acuity - Accommodations as required for reading computer screens and documents.

Hearing Ability - Accommodations as required to communicate with internal and external customers.

Working Conditions - Normally works in an office environment. Occasionally, the employee may be subject to:

  • Shop floor environment
  • high noise levels from operating machines
  • physical hazards from moving equipment and production components
  • breathing fumes, dust and mist
  • skin exposure to oils and cutting fluids.
  • Welding flash

Some travel may be required as needed.

The employee may be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.

Attendance is an essential job function.

Employees will operate in compliance of all recognized standards that Major Tool adheres to (such as AS9100, ISO 9000), including all supporting policies and procedures.
