Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Coordinator I for Executive VP for Academic Affairs.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Process enrollment certifications promptly and accurately for submission to the Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Monitor and adhere to the frequently evolving U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) regulations and procedures regarding the certification of educational benefits.
- Maintain mandatory VA training as required by the Department of Veterans Affairs, which may involve occasional overnight travel.
- Work within Rutgers and VA software systems to perform required VA certification and reporting.
- Maintain relationships with campus and community stakeholders, the New Jersey State Approving Agency (SAA), Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMAVA), the VA, and other agencies as required to ensure consistent support of military affiliated students and compliance in reporting.
- Assist on issues including regulations governing the various VA education certification procedures, enrollment monitoring procedures, and organizational suggestions.
- Interpret and explain VA processes and regulations changes and provide guidance to military affiliated students on how changes will impact them.
- Resolve problems regarding eligibility and payment of VA benefits.
- Engage in training opportunities designed to enhance the understanding of the VA's various educational benefits, certification process, and the responsibilities of and support offered by the VA, the Department of Defense (DOD), and the SAA.
- Perform additional tasks related to education benefits earned through military service as needed.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and two (2) years relevant experience in a program coordination or administrative function that includes coordination of work; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of program design and execution, coordination, organization, facilitation, report analysis, writing.

- Good communication skills.
- Computer literacy.
- Familiarity with challenges facing military affiliated students in transition back to college as well as other issues of importance to military affiliated students.
- Strong oral, written, and problem-solving skills required.
- Experience with gathering, collating, and explaining data, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to read, interpret, and comply with state and federal guidelines and regulations.
- Ability to balance university interests with student needs.
- Familiarity with the Enrollment Manager certification system in order to serve as a Primary School Certifying Official for undergraduate and graduate military affiliated students.
- Ability to monitor ever changing state laws concerning veteran and military educational benefits.

Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Additional infection control and safety policies may apply.
