The University of Arizona, Campus Health Service (CHS) seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Medical Assistant II. This position is responsible for providing a variety of clerical and reception duties for the day-to-day functions of the various Campus Health Service (CHS) clinics. The CHS was the first fully accredited college health service in the nation and in the Princeton Review, the CHS has been ranked in the top 4% for Best Health Services for the past ten years. Duties & Responsibilities |
- Maintains the CHS' front offices by demonstrating proper telephone etiquette, ensuring accurate billing using a variety of accounts, maintaining patient scheduling, and creating electronic patient records.
- Performs cashiering duties.
- Displays professional customer service to patients.
- Provides reliable, attentive, and professional support for clinical staff.
- Verifies insurance eligibility for service at CHS.
- Scans documents into the electronic medical record.
- May perform additional duties such as, rooming patients, measuring height, weight, vital signs, hearing, vision, etc., and maintaining record on electronic medical record.
- Additional duties may be assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Ability to navigate and be sensitive to a wide range of personal experiences, perspectives, and issues.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, exude a helpful demeanor, and display a professional customer service orientation.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as a member of a team.
- Ability to operate a Windows based computer and multi-line telephone system; and ability to utilize an electronic scheduling system.
- Proficiency in using computers, keyboards, and 10-key.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and phone skills.
- Knowledge of basic record keeping, standard office procedures, and skill operating current office equipment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology; basic understanding of health insurance and medical records.
- Ability to maintain up-to-date CPR certification.

Minimum Qualifications |
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- In addition to the education and experience minimum qualifications, Clinical certification and/or licensure required.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Certificate of completion of a Medical Administrative Assistant Program.
- Experience with electronic medical records.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report |
In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses.Thesereports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
