Duties/Responsibilities:

Estimating & Bid Management

  • Lead the preparation of accurate, detailed estimates and bid proposals for both public and private projects.
  • Analyze landscape construction drawings and specs for constructability and pricing strategy.
  • Perform quantity take-offs and develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost breakdowns.
  • Oversee and review estimates developed by junior team members.
  • Ensure all proposals meet compliance standards and profitability goals.

Subcontractor & Vendor Coordination

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Request, evaluate, and negotiate competitive pricing from vendors and subs.
  • Keep cost data and pricing libraries up to date with current market trends.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Supervise and mentor the estimating team, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Work closely with project management, accounting, and sales to ensure seamless project handoffs.
  • Participate in pre-construction planning and internal strategy sessions.

Process Improvement & Reporting

  • Create, maintain, and enhance estimating templates, procedures, and historical cost data.
  • Track bid outcomes, analyze trends, and report metrics to senior leadership.
  • Continuously improve estimating efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years of estimating experience in landscape or general construction.
  • Proven success in estimating and securing commercial and public works projects.
  • Experience managing full-cycle bids and mentoring junior estimators.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with prevailing wage and Davis-Bacon projects is a plus.
  • Strong blueprint reading skills - especially with grading, irrigation, planting, and hardscape.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam, OST, and MS Excel.
