Overview The Sr Specialist will oversee major overhauls, station outages, and low-frequency PMs, ensuring the Contractor Admin Process's integrity. They will manage Maximo, Engage (E-Plan, DATA Splice, and Maintenance Technical Library), and other administrative and training functions. The role involves facilitating meetings to ensure compliance and cost management, and networking with management, union, and outside contractors to ensure efficient operations.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Partners with the Project Manager to coordinate station outages, directing all services and material requirements, and analyzing work scope and requirements with Company Engineering support for both scheduled and forced outages.
- Oversees the web-based MAXIMO application, chairs daily WORM meetings to update work orders, provides MAXIMO training for all employees, and ensures work plans are established and loaded into Maximo or Engage (E-Plan, DATA Splice, and Maintenance Technical Library).
- Maintains the integrity of the Contractor Administration Process, ensuring the process is audit ready and CAM compliant.
- Works with System Engineering, Operations, EH&S, and Technical groups to develop Maintenance Procedures for infrequently performed evolutions, e.g. Low frequency PMs and Overhauls.
- Chairs the 74th Street Outage and PM review meetings and creates weekly and outage work schedules by conducting weekly scheduling meetings with Operations, Maintenance, I&C, and Engineering.
- Oversees all compliance and preventive maintenance work orders for the location, providing status lists for these items, and updates the station's critical spare parts inventory by ensuring sufficient stock levels are available.
- Leads the effort in establishing the outage list, creates dollar estimates for each outage task, provides daily outage updates during the outage window, and coordinates PM repairs for all rotating equipment (e.g., pumps, motors, turbines, fans).
- Ensures cost minimization through efficient time, material, and work procedures, and collaborates with the stations budget analyst to prepare a budget plan with accurate funding for yearly PMs.
- Assists in preparing planning packages and fill in for planning administrator and maintenance supervisors.
- Utilizes appropriate mainframe and/or personal computer applications and maintains the integrity of the system used through established security practices.
- Strives to improve subordinates morale and productivity, adheres to Company rules and the Collective Bargaining Agreement, determines disciplinary actions, conducts interviews, participates in grievance settlements, and evaluates subordinates work performance.

Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree and 3 years equivalent work experience in power plant or merchant shipping environment, electrical and mechanical equipment, or
- Associate's Degree and 4 years equivalent work experience in power plant or merchant shipping environment, electrical and mechanical equipment, or
- High School Diploma/GED and 5 years equivalent work experience in power plant or merchant shipping environment, electrical and mechanical equipment.
Preferred Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree and 8 years equivalent work experience in power plant or merchant shipping environment, electrical and mechanical equipment.
Relevant Work Experience
- Knowledge of safe work practices/procedures and use of appropriate personal protective equipment, required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to effectively interact with both internal and external customers, support staff, and various levels of management and union, required.
- Proficient in the following computer programs/applications Microsoft office, work management systems such as Maximo, required.
- Knowledge of material procurement, outage coordination, technical report writing, scheduling, technical drawing interpretation, purchasing, power plant maintenance, required.
- 1-3 years of supervisory experience with proven skills to motivate people, required.
- Ability to work as part of a team, required.
- Knowledge and experience with steam turbines, gas turbines and generator overhauls, overhaul specifications, practices and methods, preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
- Driver's License Required
- Other: TWIC-Transportation Worker Identification Credential 1 1/2 Yrs
- Boiler License NYC Stationary Engineer License Preferred
Physical Demands
- Ability to respond to system emergencies
- Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold
- Perform heavy manual labor, i.e. push, pull, and lift up to 50lbs
- Ability to carry tools and materials when climbing ladders and scaffolds, and entering confined spaces
- Ability to work in adverse conditions that include, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs
- Ability to work with, and in, the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems
- Ability to be approved to wear and use either a full or half-face respirator and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), without facial hair or other conditions that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations
- Stand, walk, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach for the duration of the workday
- Unload materials from delivery vehicles and deliver equipment and materials to various operating facilities
- Ability to travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies
- Use hand-eye coordination to adjust controls on equipment
- Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. fire-retardant clothing and safety harnesses
Additional Physical Demands
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be physically able to work in a power plant environment with extreme heat conditions, noise, high elevations, and confined spaces.
- Must be able to work under conditions of high temperatures and at high elevations in the plant.
