Job Summary:

The Graduate Admissions Recruiter will engage with prospective graduate students through in-person meetings, phone calls, text messages, and email communications. The recruiter will clearly articulate the values of Northeastern Illinois University's master's degree, certificate, endorsement, and Graduate Student-at-Large (GSAL) programs, including application requirements and the admissions process.

The successful candidate will stay informed about current program offerings and trends within competing institutions. Responsibilities include responding to inbound inquiries, conducting outbound outreach via phone, text, and email campaigns, interviewing prospective students, attending recruitment events, and accurately documenting all interactions in the CRM system.

The recruiter will support graduate enrollment efforts as directed by the Director of Graduate Admissions and must be adaptable to evolving goals and priorities.

Job Description:

Prospect Engagement & Outreach

  • Schedule and meet with prospective students on campus, by phone, and online.

  • Proactively conduct daily outbound phone, email, and text messaging campaigns targeting new, existing, and inactive prospects and inquiries.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all graduate program details, including tuition and fees, credit hour requirements, course delivery formats, application deadlines, and enrollment start dates.

  • Understand how each prospect intends to fund their education.

  • Be able to explain the fundamentals of graduate financial aid, including scholarships, grants, and assistantships.

  • Ensure all inbound communications-calls, walk-ins, emails-are accurately documented in the University's CRM system. Records must include full contact information, detailed notes, and program of interest.

  • Schedule assigned number of weekly appointments with prospective students to assess their goals and recommend appropriate graduate programs that align with their interests and experience.

  • Conduct an assigned number of weekly meetings (phone, online, or in-person) with prospective students.

  • Each meeting should:

    • Gather and record the prospect's academic and professional background

    • Clarify the prospect's goals and ensure alignment with available graduate programs

    • Communicate the value and distinctiveness of an NEIU graduate education

    • Understand and advise on funding options

  • If the program is a fit, guide the student through the application process and set a timeline for submission

  • Use the University's CRM to track and document all interactions throughout the recruitment cycle. Answer inbound calls and respond to emails and texts with program and admissions information. Collect and enter contact details (name, email, phone, text preference) for all unsolicited inquiries. Provide warm hand-offs to faculty, academic departments, financial aid, and registration staff, and follow up to ensure proper support. Assist in planning and executing recruitment events. Represent NEIU at on-campus and off-campus graduate recruitment events.

Applicant Support and Follow-Up

  • Proactively follow up with applicants regarding their admission status and outstanding requirements.

  • Provide clear guidance on the submission of required documents and next steps.

  • Ensure timely communication around admissions deadlines and application completeness.

  • Congratulate applicants upon completion and admission, outlining next steps and addressing any concerns.

Support admitted students through the enrollment process by:

  • Connecting them to their faculty advisor

  • Assisting with registration

  • Explaining financial aid and payment options

  • Encouraging participation in orientation events

  • Ensuring access to NEIUport and other university systems

  • Document all applicant interactions in the CRM.

Minimal Qualifications:

Any one or combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) from the categories below:

A. Coursework in social work or behavioral sciences, or closely related field as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:

  • 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)

  • Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)

  • 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)

  • Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)

B. Progressively more responsible work experience in social service/ counseling at a paraprofessional level under qualified supervision.

Departmental Preferences:

  • Bachelor's or Master's in business or a related field.

  • Two years of active recruiting experience in a university or business environment.

  • Understanding of consultative sales process

  • Motivated by achievingquantitative goals.

Other Information:

  • This is a campus-based position; remote work is not currently available.

  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including late afternoons, evenings, and occasional Saturdays.

This position requires a background check.

Salary / Hourly Rate Range

$22.00
