About This Role

This position serves, on a day-to-day basis, as the primary contact for current as well as prospective students who wish to utilize VA educational benefits. The position serves as a VA School Certifying Official (SCO) responsible for counseling students through the application to recipient process, processing documents received, updating systems of record, and assisting with annual audits of VA educational benefits. Robust accounting and/or analytical skills are critical attributes for this position. Familiarity with applying complex regulations to daily processes is essential. The position requires the utilization of K-State's Student Information System, KSIS, as well as reports in reviewing, documenting, authorizing, and reconciling VA benefits. What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • This position requires a High School Diploma and three years of relevant experience


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience and/or familiarity with administering Veterans Affairs (VA) Educational Benefits highly preferred.
  • Experience in conducting informal advising/counseling sessions.
  • 2-3 years employment within an administrative office at a post-secondary institution of higher education.
  • 1-2 years employment within an Office of Student Financial Assistance.
  • 2 or more years employment within an administrative position requiring the completion of complex forms and/or the interpretation of complex regulations and/or the utilization of calculations/formulas as a job duty and/or high level of customer service.


Additional licenses / registrations / certifications:



  • Once employed, must be certified on Veterans Administration Memorandum of Understanding.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship
